    Anyone Need This Owner's Manual?

I would be into it man. I have a couple AMF/Western Flyer bikes and would give it a good home. How to proceed?

    Help with a bendix hub

Sorry man, I guess I should've checked your location first. Good luck on the search. Rob

    Help with a bendix hub

    Help with a bendix hub

My dad showed me a lot about single and two sppeed coasters as well as Sturmey Archer 3 speeds, but his favorite was New Departure. Seeing the way they were made I can understand now. I wish I would've paid more attention. I was into the 5 speed Krates and 10 speed road bikes. coaster bikes...

    Help with a bendix hub

What model of Bendix hub is it? I have a few styles and may be able to duplicate your problem, like reverse engineering. There are differences inside though so I need to know and photos may be more helpful Rob

Hawg Wylde, my 1962 Schwinn Typhoon 20" Pig Bike Build Off #17 Class 1 Entry.

Yeah I know. Thanks man. If I wouldn't have put myself under the gun on finishing it, I think it would've been a much nicer finished product. Then it wouldn't have even mattered because I didn't push myself to compete. I damaged the paint and repainted 3 times, instead of doing all the work...

Hawg Wylde, my 1962 Schwinn Typhoon 20" Pig Bike Build Off #17 Class 1 Entry.

I made a very costly error on this build. I did not post my bike on the Finished Builds thread. I posted it finished in my thread complete with several photos and a detailed description of the work. Four months work and several hundred dollars and it all went down the tubes because I made one...

For those who are coming in late, the 2 shift levers are actually used. The right goes to the internal 3 speed hub and the left goes to the Lauterwasser hub gear conversion. When functional there are 9 speeds available without a front derailler and multiple front sprockets.

Hawg Wylde, my 1962 Schwinn Typhoon 20" Pig Bike Build Off #17 Class 1 Entry.

I am as close as I can get to what I envisioned considering my last minute orders did not deliver today. I will be honest and point out what is missing as I go as well as describing the homemade and repurposed parts in the build. In my defense, the bike is rideable and has functional brakes...

Hawg Wylde, my 1962 Schwinn Typhoon 20" Pig Bike Build Off #17 Class 1 Entry.

About a day and a half left and a couple of the finishing touches will not be arriving in time. However, the bike is rideable and close to being a finished project so I will have my photos in before the deadline Tuesday at High Noon. After this is done I have to get my Samurai finished or I will...

    Schwinn Stingray???

I had a 1971 coaster Stingray that used those fenders, as long as they clear the S-2 rim on the back. Below is a 1971 Slik Chik from the Schwinn Product Catalog. No Standard boys Stingray pictured there but a Slik Chik was the same bike on a girls frame. S-2 rear with 20x2.125 Slik.

    Schwinn Stingray???

1970-1972 could also be a coaster brake Krate, which also allows it to be Orange, Red, White or Silver. Also, in my experience the 1970- 1973 bikes are doing ok on price, if they have original paint or are patina survivor bikes. See if there is any evidence of the original color inside the frame...

Hawg Wylde, my 1962 Schwinn Typhoon 20" Pig Bike Build Off #17 Class 1 Entry.

Thanks man! I am down to the wire, as you predicted in your first message to me months ago. Now I am pushing to get as much working as possible so it will show well in the end. Good luck to you man!

Hawg Wylde, my 1962 Schwinn Typhoon 20" Pig Bike Build Off #17 Class 1 Entry.

Oops forgot the photo. I put a Schwinn Gripper Slik on the rear. Not for the tread, I thought the Pie Crust sides look more authentic for an early drag racing Slik. The lever grips were in terrible shape, they looked like a melted Strawberry Sundae. I sprayed them with PlastiCoat metallic red...

Both drum brakes are functional so maybe later today I may try that ride again. I still need the hub shifter. The derailleur shifter is easy.

Hawg Wylde, my 1962 Schwinn Typhoon 20" Pig Bike Build Off #17 Class 1 Entry.

I got a chain on that bad boy and rode it. However, nobody suggested connecting the brakes again, so I had to get creative in the stopping department. No harm done. Also, I know it was my responsibility to connect the appropriate safety devices but it made better conversational material to...

Hawg Wylde, my 1962 Schwinn Typhoon 20" Pig Bike Build Off #17 Class 1 Entry.

OK, it looks like the changes, at least in their present form are permanent. 1). Different seat. I like the old seat, on a single speed bike it would've been great. It never looked right once I built the shift console though. I had an old but nice red sparkle banana seat in the loft so it is...

Hawg Wylde, my 1962 Schwinn Typhoon 20" Pig Bike Build Off #17 Class 1 Entry.

I changed a couple more parts and added a couple. Not saying what right now since I am not sure if it is permanent or if more will change because of those changes. I will share this when I am more certain. Suffice to say that these small changes alter the stance of the bike enough that its whole...
