You just need a small block tucked in that thing and you’re done.

That would be fun. I've always wanted to do a faux engine like @Kuttnhack did with Mash Banger in BO6, but not this time around.

I have a good feel for the skirt fins now.
My mind is still churning on whether or not the pipes stay or go. We'll see. They may be a bit too cartoonish.

So I decided to switch gears tonight and start the tank process. I've scrapped my plan for the rat fink head in the tank. So next I want to decide on a nose for the baseball bat tank.

Here are some of the possibilities. A fence cap and different ends from a yard sale light that i bought to use for bike parts ages ago.

When I originally mocked up the bat tank, i was thinking of bending the end to follow the frame curve.

But once I realized that only the meat of the bat was aluminum and that it had the cool exhaust ports on it, I knew i was going to make it a shorter tank.

I cut off the handle polymer section and then test mocked up one of trusty pointing wine stops that I have used on a few builds.

I think I am leaning towards the nose of the light. The light base is just too odd a shape. The fencepost cap would be a bit blunt once i cut it.

But the light nose has cool intake ports in it and the cutoff would be just below those. So it would be kinda cool have slotted ports at both the nose and tail of the tank.

Dusk was approaching so I had to move the bike to get better lighting with the missile tank mockup. It is so awesome to finally have a kickstand on this bike!!!!!

I am very happy with the look of the tank mockup so far.
I slapped the fin on there and really like how the missile shape mimics the speedy vents on the fin as well as the fork rocker arms. Even the raised center of the chainguard has a missile look to it.

Your "toy plane" mockup proves that these parts belong together. They are a cohesive unit. I'm not sold on the pipes, seems like a different direction than the rocket ship stuff.

The skirt def ties in the rocket fueled tank. And some kind of paint accent on the raised part of the chain guard would draw it in even more.

Just playing around with all the rocket ship descriptions. Definitely not building a Space Oddity or Rats In Space theme. :D But the tank will have that same components and layout as I mocked up (at least I'm assuming it will). But whether the common shapes are called rockets, bullets, missiles, or darts I'm still very pleased with how they are coming together.

I'll probably still mock the pipes again once I get the skirt fins done, but I really doubt seriously I'll be using them on this build.

Had other stuff to work on earlier today. But the offset cogs came in this afternoon, so I decided to go ahead and install one.

I love how you can see the beefiness of the 10guage spokes in these pics.

I had realized looking at pics of my last ride that the rear of the guard was higher than the front. So I started reworking the guard placement today after the offset sprocket. I needed to raise the front rather than lower the rear. But just sliding the front bracket up the downtube also slides the guard forward and changes crankarm clearances. So after some manuevering I realized that the front bracket was pulling the guard in too close to the chainring. The brackets that I have aren't offset from the tube enough. But I was able to twist it enough with one screw in it to get the proper chainguard placement mocked up. By this time it was time to head out to dinner. I just need to make some bracket extensions to bolt between the downtube bracket and the chainguard. These should be pretty simple to do. Another great thing about having this butterfly kickstand is that I was able to slide a board under it and elevate the rear wheel so that I can freely run the cranks and wheel through their motions and easily check for any rubbing or slapping or other clearance issues.

Worked on adding an extension to the front guard bracket and got everything alligned properly.
Also swapped the choshop bars back onto the bike for now. I think the long pull back of them flows with the chainguard well.
