All this talking about the FM springer made me want to put it on for a test fit.
I can see that the frame is still down slightly in the front, but I also still don't have a headset installed. Plus I can adjust the springer section as needed.
As beefy as these forks are, I think the visual mass of them play well with the wheelset and the frame itself. I'm diggin the vibe so far!

I smell what you're laying down, here.

...And I dig it.

These arrived today from Jimmy Peek. I'll have to wait until i trim the fork tubes before I can test them. I'm not sure if they are right for these forks.

I feel like Peek bars really only go with a pointy frameset. They'll likely fight with those Colson-esque curves that you have going on.

Yeah, I can follow that. Also, I feel like I would have to raise them up too high to show off bottom points with the mass of these springers. I'll still mock them on here for fun, but don't expect to use them. I won them in a raffle, so they weren't anything I got with a certain build in mind.

Looks like I crossed over the 30K message mark.

30,000 huh?

Just imagine if you had to do it over.

Imagine the bmoc told you that in order to qualify for this or that you’re gonna have to make 30,000 posts first!

Broke out my trusty skeletor wheelstand.

Testing some bars between rain. Also trying to organize my shop enough to actually find anything.

First off are some tear drop monkey bars. Having to use whatever stems will clear the fork legs for now, just to get the vibe of the bars.

They could work with some of my ideas, but they don't really grab me.

Next I tried the Jimmy Peek bars for fun too. Love the bars, but not for this build.

For this build I think I will go with something lower and cruiser speed. I am actually not a big fan of moon bars on my builds, but I've had these monster moons for quite a while that someone had put on a ladies JetFlow that I ended up parting out.

Glad you said that. The tiller effect was already making me mad. I don't think you have found the right bar yet. The moon bar is best with the frame, but not the fork.

The contrast is staggering.

Just as funky Kingfish.

Funky contrast is not always a bad thing in build offs and especially in my mockups. Hang around long enough and you will see that I will throw anything on a build to test the look of it. I let my freak flag fly and show most of my ideas, even if they look like boogers and warts. :D Even the failures provide me an archive of funky contrasting ideas for future builds. :D

Here are the front runners so far. I can't even remember what I pulled them off of. But I am pretty sure it was a stretch of some sort. These are also very wide (about 28") like the moons, but these have a sweet straight pull back sweep to them. Hard to say what I'll end up with. Still need a seat to really get a feel for the stance and geometry, but I'm liking the feel of this.

I may even make these into classic crossbars.

Yeah, with mockups, you just have to look past the tape, or string, or reverse stems that hold stuff together and just look at things conceptually. Sometimes even multiple colors in a mockup can throw the eyes and brain off. Right now I'm having to look past the excess fork legs and steertube sticking out the top.

I'm liking the first mocks with the big draw bars. We'll see how well it all plays together once I am further along. I don't have a final vision of what this build will look like. I'm just winging it like many of my builds. Just doing what the bike tells me to do.
