Humbly submitted, this. ORBO

The 1991 Roadmaster got the assist… helped truck the fork in to work last week, along with an ACS stem, HD bearings/parts and a BB promotion…..

then….the frame got trucked in…. During a 40-degree rain storm….. Attempting Rail/ratbike commute for as much as i can with this build. About 5 miles and a -15 minute commuter rail blast.

the General “bmx” fork is 1980’s…. off a 26” General “Catalina 3”, whose 3spd coaster-shimano wheel set is heavy and far-gone for my math skills.

The fork fit like it was made for the schwinn which is at least 3 decades the senior. The color matches well too.

having fun… new rad wheel set on order worthy of my klunker functionality aim for a historic frame

enjoy!!

Last images, from work, Saturday. The “Daisy, Daisy” tandem donated w/the “captains” low rise ape-ish bars look cool, all together… after a little green grease of course…. Left the front rack on as it matches the line of the straight bar.

the plan is the “sideways promotion” on the ashtabula BB, a “3-piece adaptor” ….the cups are already knocked loose thanks to a pal with a chunk of wood (and he also had a 2 x 4 )

stay tuned… action plan is this crank…. A new part!….On order… maybe floating in a big can on the Pacific… it’s black, single speed and might look cool.

Ya… the missing headbadge…. I’ll want to mend that situation sooner than later… So i noticed the bolt pattern was larger than a “Chicago” Schwinn… sadly i have limited color selection in the A/S oldies….. the “Chicago” era “Minkies” is the one i was wanting… i just like the look and the name… i’ve salvaged one or two over the years… but that is strictly generation 60’s-80’s…. I had a big 1960’s blue… naw…. Found one with just the right crust appeal… Chicago badge shown for effect…. Some white accents turning up….. gives me another idea… more on that later

Those BMX with seats like these were partly the inspiration for my build, and I am glad to see you are considering them!

I’ve bodged a retention system from seat post hardware…. Should work here…. Allows for short banana seat stay attachment on any adult bike. Just unbend seat post hardware to clamp around chain/seat stays. Bomber! I might revisit the alightment to increase strength.

here, for rat rod posterity….
