1963 Western Flyer Newsboy Special (Columbia)

Wow, this has been a WILD weekend for me! I went to talk to friend and show him the 1953 Western Flyer that I picked up. Turns out he is needing money to finish up a 1956 Chevy he is working on, so he is willing to sell me his 1963 Newsboy Special and a Columbia tank that he bought for it on eBay at $75.00 each! O.K., I spend another $150 QUICKLY!!

Here is a picture of the tank and one of the tank on the bike. I know that the Newsboys didn't have this tank on them, but why not? I mean, who needed lights and a horn more than the paper boys did back in the 60's?

Right time, right place, I guess. It doesn't usually happen to me. I think this guy just doesn't have time for bikes right now. Now, I have to get back to my build off bike, the clocks ticking........

I love those rocket themed bikes,, I have my "Jet Bike". But the full fendered ones are always way Cool with the black and red. They are not easy to find.

Very nice JD, did you clean up the paint on your newsboy? If so, how bad was it to start with? I was thinking that the paint was dead on mine, but I have seen some amazing paint restoration on here lately.

Here is what it looked like before a WD40 & 0000 scrub down then I have only done a polishing compound. Still needs more as there is still lots of rust.
Byt, to answer your question, the paint wasn't bad just loaded with the bacteria looking rust spotted areas.

Now

It's all about the Tanklights!!
