Afternoon folks. I've got a minor mystery on my hands and could use a few extra brains to sort it out. According to the serial number I have a 1986 Mongoose ATB. It has the headbadge but kind of an odd mix of components. Sakae sx cranks and ovaltech chainrings (3x6), Deore pedals, both derailleurs, shifters, brake levers and brakes, sr hubs. Standover is about 29 inches.
Chrome is beautiful and everything works well. Bought it years ago and was wondering if anyone has seen one with this configuration. I've seen an 80s goose with biopace rings but not ovaltech. I assume it's somewhat bastardized but the atb pro rear brake threw me off
Any info would he appreciated.

Everything shown looks era-correct to me. Most bicycle producers have a disclaimer on their spec sheets that say they reserve the right to switch components listed in their specs. Normally those replacement parts are the same quality, new year model, or an upgrade. When they have more framesets than OE parts, it's a common thing.

I love the Slingshot stem, those babies are classic. The rims are sick too. What tire size? They look BEEFY! That seat... Also classic, but I still have pain from the eighties. I have a similar one that has been hanging on a wall for a few decades.

Thanks for the info guys, I really appreciate it.

I hate to do it but I'm probably gonna ebay it. My wrists and elbows are pretty trashed and riding a rigid mtb really beats me up.
