Rat Rod
Owner & Founder
Gary Silva from 3G Bikes contacted me this week and sent me some pics of his new 3 wheeler that he's about to launch. There are two different models...the Century and the Century DLX.
As with all 3G Bikes, Gary has gone above and beyond when it comes to quality and design. This trike incorporates his foot forward geometry with his signature aluminum frame and reinforced rear assembly. Another cool feature is the precision bearings in the rear assembly. Most of the trikes on the market right now from Sun and Schwinn use cheap bearings which have a tendency to fail when a heavier rider leans from side to side. Actually, most everything about the Sun and Schwinn trikes is a lot cheaper made than the Century. You can always count on 3G for nice features like sealed bearings, 3 piece cranks, rust proof chains, ergo grips, etc.
The DLX model comes with disc brakes up front and the 57mm wide rims. Gary said that he designed the rear assembly to accept a Nexus 3 speed hub if you wanted to upgrade.
He also mentioned that you'll be able to purchase the rear assembly and wood deck on their own. Still waiting to see what pricing on those would be. He hasn't tried mounting the rear assembly on any other frame yet so he's not totally sure what else it might fit. I'm sure if someone was building a custom trike it was be fairly easy attachment to mount up.
He received a shipment of the trikes in this week and most of those have already sold. He's got another container arriving in 2 weeks with more inventory. Gary does a lot of business with beach area bike shops all over the U.S. and they have been snatching them up fast.
