Another Seat Post size question

I have this late '30's Snyder fastback and I am trying to figure out what size of seat post it should have. The one that came with it seems to be a little too small. It's very hard to get tight with the clamp. The clamp bolt was nearly bent double from being torqued down so much to hold the seat post. I pried the end of the tube open to try a 13/16" seat post, but it was just too big to fit. Before I try a shim, I would like to know what the bike's original seat post size was.

I think so. I hope so anyway for the sake of the build-off. 3/4" seems to be what the bike wants. I bought a piece of 3/4" tubing and, like Baby Bear's bed, it was just right. LOL
