What the heck is going on up there in Canada?
https://www.mtbr.com/threads/lal-bikes-supre-drive-is-a-radical-take-on-derailleur-design.1196573/Not sure if I like the complexity, but as a stepping stone, it has potential. I don't like the need for rear suspension restrictions, don't know anything about high pivot witchcraft. I mostly like the separation of tension and shifting which allows the inboard mounting. The front derailleur is already eliminated, why not have a go at the rear?

I got myself a reading list for the winter blahs:

Might I suggest, “The Lost Cyclist“, “Around the World on a Bicycle”, (this guy was truly crazy, had an unbelievable immune system, lucky, stubborn, all he had was a rain slicker, a few sox, a spare shirt, a pistol and a pith hat for a crash helmet). “The Flying Yankee”, about A. A. Zimmerman, the best cyclist of all time, Any book about Major Taylor, “Geronimo Riding the Very Terrible 1914 Tour of Italy” and ”Glenn’s Complete Bicycle Manual” copyright 1973 before all the modern stuff. This even tells you how to rebuild Bendix kickback hubs. He uses a lot of hammers and punches to remove and install bearing races, none of those silly expensive specialized tools. All these books can be found used for cheap on the net, at least I did.

Check out these beauties! http://sonic.net/~ckelly/Seekay/artofmountainbike.htm
"Between December of 1989 and January of 1990 the Braunstein-Quay Gallery in San Francisco hosted a show called The Art of the Mountain Bike. A number of Northern California mountain bike frame builders were asked to put together their most artistic versions of their work, which were displayed at the gallery"
Breeze, Cunningham, Potts, Ritchey, Mitchell, Guy... The first two wire frame bikes... So much Tange...
I wonder if Charlie got to ride any of the bikes when he wrote the bios and specs
