BMX score and a new contact

A friend of mine asked if I'd help him unload a truck today so I rode with him to a place I'd never been. A dump yard/recycling center. They had a row of bikes right by the scales so I decided to look once we were done and I bought 2 BMX bikes with the little cash I had on me. First one a 1986 Schwinn Predator Qualifier and a 2004-2006 Haro Nyquist Code Two. The Schwinn is very original and will clean up well. The Haro needs a seat and post but otherwise complete. Both have flat tires but haven't tried to air them up yet. Going back tomorrow to see a few more projects.

Our transfer stations, by law, can't sell or give away anything once it's been dumped. So, when we go...I often see lots of decent bikes with good parts destined to be crushed.

I've tried to make inroads with the recycling outfits in the area, but neither one finds it worth their time to separate the bikes out.

Yeah that predator is really nice, look at that sugino crank! The Haro has a nice looking one too. Cool scores, especially for just pocket money!

Listed the predator as is for $150 and sold this morning for $125 without touching it. Didn't even clean it. $105 profit so far and still have the Haro! Might just decide to keep it since it's basically a free bike at this point.
