That's what I kinda figured. I got my deal in the rims and tires I got with it. This was basically a throw in. I might just piece it down and use what I can and junk the rest.

Sold the Haro to my nephew for the friend and family price of $150 after doing some work.

Our transfer stations, by law, can't sell or give away anything once it's been dumped. So, when we go...I often see lots of decent bikes with good parts destined to be crushed.

I've tried to make inroads with the recycling outfits in the area, but neither one finds it worth their time to separate the bikes out.

Good scores!
There's other ways of doing business. Show up with a 12 pack of "soda" or a box of doughnuts. That's how the government gets stuff!

I know I have a some sort of psychosis but when I see bikes destined to be trashed and I feel the need to "rescue" them.....

Help me....

Saw this sweet Schwinn Predator listed on Facebook at a local shop and I had to go look at it. So on my lunch break I went and looked and had to have it. Needs a different seat, pedals, and another gumball tire for the front but it is awesome!!! I stood taller than I normally do and paid $195 but think I did okay.

Just noticed when I rode it around the store and holy bent crank batman. Luckily I have another crank laying around.

Let this be a lesson to me to never rush a deal... It's a repop. Still an awesome bike and I'm happy to own it but I'd have negotiated harder on the price given the damages. But on a brighter note I don't feel bad about modifying the heck out of it now.

Plenty to work with. It looks like the whole front wheel was swapped out. It would be a good candidate for a layback seat post and a 3 piece crank conversion. Bigger bars also.

I was wondering about that having black spokes vs chrome spokes but they look like the same outer hoop so maybe it was rebuilt at one point. Still a good quality rim. I do know these bikes were notorious for problems but came with a lifetime warranty so the crank may be covered but for only $15 I have one on the way from eBay so really not worth the time to get the warranty figured out. Also got some new pedals (black rat traps).

Also got a little something for my fat bike so it doesn't get jealous.

I'm a sick man and can't say no to a deal. Went to Marion and met a fellow bicycle guy today very knowledgeable guy when it comes to older stuff but not so much on newer BMX. Awesome guy all around and I am sure I'll be back for more later.

Anyway the haul: 2 blue Mongoose frames, one has a nice 3 piece crank and the other some sweet 3 spoke mags. A Diamondback frame with nice 3 piece crank, a complete Flight liner, 3 rims 2 front (one is a GT with mohawk hub) and 1 rear, 20" lowrider fork, random cruiser bars with Schwinn grips, then on the way home found another bike in the trash.

He also had this beautiful Schwinn Fleet a precursor to the stingray and in beautiful condition. Unfortunately out of my budget at the moment. Said he has all the original parts in the house.

Well ended up using a black crank I had laying around to match the pedals, just got the chainring in but unfortunately it didn't come with the spider so I need to order that next check. Went with this green chainring and yellow/ gold bolts to match the frame and the yellow from the decals. Probably going to get a black center to match the wheels. Then I need to reorder a set of black rat trap pedals in 9/16 to fit the new crank.

So I was messing around with some leftover 24" La-jolla bike parts and what do you know the fenders will fit my Schwinn Predator 24 inch perfectly. Even has all the previsions for them. I'm thinking paint them black to match the wheels and see how it looks. What do y'all think?

Kickstand plate has the screw hole

Slip this mount right under the brake

Front fender has a double tab so it would go right on. Literally couldn't get easier.

So first up hit a yard sale and found an exact match to my other 2 fat 20" tires and a very close match to my rims.

Also picked up this early 2000's Mongoose FS1 Money I remember having one of these back in the day. It was an absolute brick. Heavy but sturdy. Smoked several wheel sets with mine back in the day. $30 for the frame and 3 orphan wheels including the mag.

Then I went to the scrap yard this morning and accidentally bought more bikes on purpose.

Mongoose Deviant... rear hub is smoked really loose so I assume bearings are shot. Bought it for the tires and tubes which are like new. Might save the wheels too. Small drive line. Will have some good donations to the parts pile.

Kent girl's bike bought for the wheels and to stock the parts pile.

1960's Schwinn Hollywood I normally don't do girl's bikes but I just couldn't let it get scrapped. It's all there minus a seat. Rims look like they will clean up. It's all straight. Few dents in the fenders but a solid bike. Going to clean it up, find a seat, and see if I can turn it into cash.

Nice!

Those be some some burly 20'' tires on narrow mags. What model and size are they?

I pass on those sorts of 'trail offerings' on daily rides. No room for'em.
