My wife and I made it to the Old Bikes Club swap meet today so glad that I did! Met some great people and made a nice little score. 1959 Schwinn frame and 1969 Schwinn ape hanger handlebars, all for 30 bucks! I met Blu Martinez who organizes the event, along with a regular seller named Don who had great items at awesome prices. Don is who I picked my items from. Also another regular seller named Kirby who was really nice as well. I look forward to hooking up with these guys for one of the future rides. Can’t wait for the next meet! Many are going to the Haysville swap meet so I may have to journey back to Kansas for that one. I can’t wait to build this 26” muscle rat!
My Chinese military guiding parachute came in today! It is spring loaded with a stud to place a pin, to hold the chute in a compressed position. It measures 1 meter square which will be a great size for a muscle bike parachute. I need to work out a mountable pouch to contain everything. I will actuate the pull of the pin with a brake lever and cable. If it happens to be too big to use, I can use it as a pattern to make a smaller size. I’m excited to tinker with this idea.
