Hey look. Another Build-off and I happen to be working on somethin. Great timing!

Is this going to win? Nope. Is it going to place anywhere near the top? Not a chance. But I'm building it and that's what really matters.

I snagged this cool Camelback Twin Top Tuber Hawthorne frame off CL recently (hence the name)

With Ugly AMF dropouts

And I stripped it down and took a brief mockup

Remember how I said the AMF dropouts were ugly? Well they're going bye-bye

The plan is to make a simple single speed / fixed gear with 700 or 29" tires on it and make a simple, quick bike that I can ride with the roadies, and still have an old bike with some style. There won't be any geegaw on this thing, I can assure you of that

Nice start ! i like your plan:thumbsup:
would like to build a bike like that , but i always end up with to much ideas and cool , but overweight parts on them

Join the club. I think most of us get into these just for the fun of it. Gives you a chance to show what you're going and get some ideas.

This looks like a cool build........Love that frame.

I believe that's a Hawthorne badged Rollfast (Snyder), not AMF. I like the new dropouts though.

I understand completely about making a build off winning bike. If I get 3 votes I'm doing great. :dance2:

I gotta admit, I love the name...and I would'a stolen it, too, for a future bent-back build. Now it looks like I'm stuck with "Hump Day."

Just waiting on parts at this point....

....ahhhh, drop bars. We've got a retro monster-crosser in the works here...

Thanks man. My go to rig is a Surly Karate Monkey with Salsa Woodchippers on it. So I guess I am into the whole Monster Cross thing

I agree with Wildcat that it's probably a Rollfast/Snyder built frame. Don't think I've seen one quite like it , but I love the twin top tubes and styling of it.
The new dropouts are killer!

Definitely Snyder dropouts. Love the new ones, and looking slick with the drop bars. I always wanted to do a camel back frame w/ pista bars and a drop stem, now I get to see what it would look like, sorta.
