Spent another 5 hours or so in the kitchen today...

First mock-up of the final box on the trike: a perfect fit! :113:

The angle of the front plate is spot in and also the siren fits perfectly inbetween the seat stays

So it's good to go on. But know I have to improvise a workbench first....

I like your project more and more :)
I guess it would be cool if you run some planetary geared hub though. Can be useful to help with the extra weight you'd be carrying with it.

You are absolutely right, but for now there is no chance to exchange the hub. The double sprocket on the first hub is welded to the hub shell, so for now this thing remains a single speed. When it's done, I might change the sprocket to a smaller one, but we will see. This trike will mostly be used on flat terrain, so no need to have a mountain gear....

Thanks to a thorough CAD mock-up. 😉

But it still needs a bit of tweaking in the bike side, as the extra stays are not really level...

Your buggy box turned out well! And a great fit.
One of my dad's patented quotes would be at the end of a job or project, when we had done meticulous measuring, dry fitting, careful calculating, and precise cutting; he would stand back and look at the end result and say, " Almost like we planned it that way." He was very mathematical in his approach to life, with a good dose of humor always added in!

I can fabricate a sprocket you can bolt on a nexus 3 hub flange for you if you want. Or Torpedo Driegang, or basically any hub i have in my stash from witch i can take measurements.
 
Making good progress with all the small stuff.
Had to tweak some alignment issues on the rear axle. It made really strange creaking and cracking noises, due to tension resulting from misalignment, but I sorted it out now.

Hmm, I might take you up on that... I have a Torpedo somewhere in a box. I'll see if I can find it...

This is how the actual setup looks. The extra sprocket is machined so that it fits over the flange and it's welded to the shell on the other side. The sprocket would need to have 23 teeth.

How would you bolt in on? Through the spoke holes with small bolts and nuts? Or would you drill holes into the sprocket and thread them?

Yes, with m4 bolts through the spoke holes.I'd need to do some calculations and CAD :)
