My dad bought this little trike for $10. It's going to be for my little nephew. I'll give it to him on Christmas. I believe its a 70's ish AMF. I'm going to completely restore it. I'll stick with the same paint scheme though.
As you can see some paint damage and scuffs.
Sorry for the horrible quality pics of the painting process lol
The color red was very hard to match. It wasn't an ordinary gloss red (may not be able to tell from the pics) but very hard to find.
More updates...haven't had much time to get it done
Taped up the wheels since you can't take the rubber off of these
Primed them then painted them a nice pearly white
Then I buffed up all the metals that were a little dull and dirty
One on right has been buffed and the one on the left was as found
And so on and so on...all the metals cleaned up nice! Should be 100% done by Thursday or Friday!
Another thing does anyone know how to clean up grips? They're great but are a little dirty
Finally! I got around to doing some more. Now I'm just laying down the clear coats. I will have it done by tomorrow!
Here's how the seat came out, just needs clear
Frame yes I blotched it up a little! Pulling off the taping pulled some white off so I had to touch it up. That's really the only nasty spot in the paint job
Forks I cleared them and they're like a mirror!
Frame being cleared
Underside of base. As you can tell, before, it was all rusty and not really painted .
Base
I plan to clear the seat tomorrow morning maybe get it together. But if not in the morning definitely after Christmas shopping! Lol haven't even started yet
Well it's finished
It's not the best paint job but I think a 2 year old kid will be content with it lol
Here he is with mommy and daddy!
He's having a grand ol' time with grandmom!
