Curved Chainstay - What is this bike?

Hi Crew!
Seeking some help to identify this bike. The chainstay curve is something I have never seen before.
Unfortunately it has been painted and has no decals so I don't have any information on it, but apparently it is an American brand.

similar to an older Decathlon (or B'Twin)Triban Trail 5 (or 7). Looks like there were several versions with 7 or 21 gears. All appear to have had a shock fork that might have been changed out for the repaint.

Serial number readable?
