Hi fellow bike fans,
I like for my bikes to ride and function. Comfortable--my own riding position, easy pedal--gears or low geared, steer ok, and stop--better brakes.

BUT.
I also have wild notions of "anything goes" from time to time, and wonder (daydream) "what if ?" and "why not" ?
Add to this my love of doodling, and some odd bicycle type things have appeared on paper.
The price is right !
Do any of you also have ideas, mild or wild, tame or custom, old or new, and be willing to post them here ?
The drawings, sketches, or doodles don't need to be "ready for prime time" to get the idea across.

Please consider adding some of your ideas here.

I will gladly start this thread with some of my doodles from this year.

First up, inspired by the "burrito" bikes, which had never heard of before,
are "bananarito" and 'gonewiththeschwinn"

Hi Matti,
Your welcome to (steal? ) any of my ideas.
That's why I want to put them here.
If I could see someone else build anything here, that would be better than building it.

This next on is from 3 days ago when a friend came by and tried to ride my latest bent trike.
She could not get her lag over the top bar without help.
So, "how low can that tube be and still work?"

This next idea is not new.
I have seen pics of facing forward-prone bikes on Pintrest or somewhere when I typed in
"Odd Bikes" into the search engine.
But I wondered, "How would my neck hold up after riding that?"
hyena 1 re.JPG

That's why I stopped using drop bars back in 1976, sore neck.
if anybody else likes drops, that's great, but not for me.
So I asked, "why not stand up"?

Result---"hyena"

Watched some U-tube of the Velo races. Wow. What a ride.
The Go-Pro flicks were great, and sometimes the outside shots included "bumper bikes"
Got me thinkin'.
Here a a few ideas, including "nose steer", don't big tractors and bucket loaders steer by
bending in the middle?
And, "Push-pull " power, With this, steering would be by leaning the push-pull levers.
Pushing on the foot pedals only work when pushing, handles could push-pull.
How, you ask? Well,

don't know yet. But there was a time man could not fly, now the
Concord is history, and there are scrap 747's.

Last one for today is one I first drew back in 1995, when I was reading up on Supertankers.
There is a story in itself.
The first book I read was named "Supertankers". Nothing but praise.
Then the next book, written only a few short years later, was named "Tankers Full of Trouble".
The real story of greed and pollution, short cuts and dangers.
Somewhere around the "Exon Valdez" wreck.

So, of course, I thought,"Why not a parade float" ?

The result is the "Axontafelltrees"

Thanks for your time, if you have viewed these doodles.

please consider adding some of your own ideas jotted down on paper and posted.

I'm sure there are good ideas out there. They could be nice, cool, or way rad ones,
not just odd stuff like I've posted .

Threeforks, I always wanted to draw up a bicycle silhouette version of an an old non winged sprint car and also try a fuel altered dragster silhouette. What I mean by silhouette is like this beetle from an old rrb article

Clyde James.
Now that was grand. Good show ! and well done also.
Really quality work.
The rest of the builds in the slide show were great too.

Either the old sprint or dragster would work as ride able art.
Go for it.
Start off with a cardboard mock up, and use papiermache if nothing else.
Just when you think you have seen everything, the page gets turned.

I've been thinking about a truck profile, hood and windshield frame, but using
2 wheels in front, a tadpole style trike for a while.

Also, one of the "doodles" from the past, not included here yet, was of a HPV dragster.
I saw they were up to 60 MPH or faster, all pedal powered.
my idea includes a flywheel, 1 or 2 gocart wheels for the back, skinny light weight for the front,
needle nose wedge body, and a set of retractable training wheels to lift the main wheels off
the ground to get them spinning up to speed before dropping in for a burnout.
I know flywheels have been used, but not like this.

The inspiration came from the "friction" toys we played with as kids.
I mean, wind it up, and off it goes.
What a ride.

While we have something playing on the "tube" is a good time to doodle sometimes.
I remembered what you posted about the sprint car, and doodled a couple versions .

The enclosed one would hide the chain and legs but look odd in the wheel wells.

The profile would have the pedals exposed, and part of the chain hidden.

The VW has about the perfect shape for a profile bike.
The sprint car might be the best shape for one, but it would sure be fun to see.
