Yep, your LBS will have access to these conversion kits, Brett. There is an online website for the wholesaler, J&B Importers now JBI.bike.

You can find the part, if it's available in your nearest regional warehouse, and submit that to your local dealer and they can tell you how much they are. I just put one in my Mesa Buggie WuGgie build I'm re-doing for this build off. Very easy to set up, and turned out really slick!

I greased the bottom bracket and headset bearings this afternoon. Then I installed the cranks, stem and seat post, got the bars and saddle roughly in place. So a few things are off the To Do List.

I picked an orange chain up today when I went to get grease for bearings and mating part surfaces. It matches wheels pretty closely. Getting close to a test ride...

I added the chain, grips, banjo wheel adjusters, added pedals, reinstalled the truss rods and did a few adjustments. I still need to tighten up the seat and seat post. Also need to finish light wiring and final check tightness of everything before the test ride. Chainguard is in limbo at this point, may or may not happen. Ice storm forecast here for the weekend, 50's next week...

If you do decide that you want to lose the reflectors and retain the safety, you could try reflective tape. This is yellow tape on the wheels and red tape on the seat stays. I used 3M because it looks just like paint in the daylight. There are other colors, but white, yellow, and red are the most reflective.

Bike is looking good. Are those Conti Retro Ride tires, Ed? I had one on the rear of One-Liner when I sold it this summer. Got a couple short rides on it, liked the feel and light weight.

The tires are Continental Retro Ride 26" X 2.2". I have a pair on another bike and they do ride smooth, not much rolling resistance. The tread has the simulated retro chain link appearance.

Thanks for the color approval, the light was a lucky find. The whole bike evolved from the orange wheelset I found as a closeout item.
I could take the reflectors off as the tires have reflective rings on the sidewalls. Probably won't use the tape although I've used it before. Yours appears pretty visible in you photo.

The bars that were on the other OG Elgin bike I found were actually longer than these. They had a few rust perforations so I gave up on them. But the would have looked better yet.

Picked up a Pletscher two leg kickstand. It's almost an after thought, but I'm going to try fitting it to the Elgin. I'll have to enlarge the mounting hole a bit. Some previous owner had drilled a hole in the bottom chainstay bridge. I think the original Elgins used a clamping type KS, no hole was required.

Ordered a Pletscher two leg kickstand, it came as a 28" model. I cut 2" off each leg, and file ends smooth. I had to enlarge the frame mounting hole to fit a 10mm bolt. I didn't use the kickstand clamp so I used a shorter bolt for the mounting.
I'll get some pics on Wednesday. It works pretty smooth and gives the appearance of a couple of header pipes. The light wiring is done for now. I'm taking it to the Starbird/DEVLIN show on Thursday. After that I'll deal with the chainguard.
