@prewarguy hooked me up again with an off the hook Holy Grail frame. Last year I bought the Hawthorne Twin Bar (5 Bar) frame that I am using for my starsNbars build off bike. Today I received a different Twin Bar from him. An Elgin Twinbar!

This has a long headtube, so I had to try out the ladies Monark springer on it. Great fit

It has a nice plastic repop of BB shell.

Whenever I build this one out, I'm not going to hunt down all of the expensive bits and shrouds and such.
I may even try to make a front shroud from the lower unit of an outboard motor.

I'm working on one right now too! Funny is that I recently got both a Hawthorne 5-bar and a Twin as well.. who needs tanks when you have wild frames?

Funny you should say that. I'm actually adding a tank to starsNbars.

I just found this cool bike motor ad that shows an Elgin Twinbar

nice find :113:

Gotta love those twinbars, here's some pics of mine that I did about ten years ago.Its powder coated in two colors,"black anthrasite" and "black twilight",and has an Electra wheel set and Nexus Shimano 3 speed.I had to have a buddy weld up a trussed seatpost stem to pull you away from the handlebars so bigger kids like me can actually run some miles on it:rolleyes:!!Seat was redone in real leather and is really comfy.I love the horn pod and enclosed crank trim pieces:DGood luck to your build and looking forward to seeing this done to completion.

Nice work on your Twin Bar!!

I'v got to get this one out on a few rides this season, she's a pretty decent comfy cruiser. The sheet metal on these bikes are unfortunately pot metal and are crap. They break, bend and warp just looking at them.Mine has all original parts from different bikes and to get them all to fit properly will make you nuts. The headlight shroud especially when those heavy D batteries we're used would always crack the metal so there's a lot of repro stuff out there, not saying that's a bad thing but there are options.I was lucky to get mine intact.I did however modify to strengthen the piece which goes from the frame to the lightbar to give it a lot of rigidity because at the time I was using the bike a lot on the rail trails and was afraid of it cracking. If I can help you out in anyway give a yell and good luck on the build!!
