Anybody know anything about these? It's a 3 speed sturmey archer, stamped "56" on the hub. It's my dad's old bike kept telling me it's an English racer. He believes he got it when he was 11 so that would have been 1960. Excited to clean it up and ride it!

The hub was made in June of 1956. It should be a 1956 or 1957 bike. They usually didn't keep new hubs for 4 years before they went on a bike. The bike looks English made, good quality. There were various manufacturers of those bikes, until 1960, when Raleigh took over most of them.

Fleet Wing was a store brand, though I don't know which one. There were several 40s-50s CWC built FW's, but later into the 50s they went with imports. -Adam

Rather sure it is a Royce Union, an English built bike. Raleigh, Royce Union and Phillips are the main English makes I am familure with. Raleigh probably took them all over though. Cool English racer

Thanks that would make sense about the hub
