I hope I am in the right place. I am going to build a klunker bike single speed. Will a 26" Mountain Bike front shock work on a vintage Schwinn Typhoon? Thanks

There are plenty of forks that will work. You could use just a standard tube type BMX fork. You may find a shock fork with correct tube but I think most are larger. There are a bunch of guys here with plenty of experience and they may have some more specific suggestions. You need to make sure the tube is long enough , it can be too long and cut but too short takes a lot more to make work.

I agree, a BMX style fork would work well.

Marzocchi MX, Answer Manitou Bomber 2, 3, or 4 are a couple of high quality options from the early 2000s. Be careful with used shocks, might need a rebuild, with seals being difficult to find. With popular models like above, parts should be available, weird stuff winds up looking like this
