My derailleur was acting up a bit on shifts the last time out. The next ride, it got the once over and discovered the chain was all slack. I think the spring on the derailleur wheels gave up the ghost. The derailleur is 20 years old and I briefly contemplated making it single speed, but this is one of 2 bikes I own with gears, so I popped for a new Shimano Altus derailleur and shifter. The combo shifter/brake lever I'm using won't rotate enough because of the bend in the bars, so the brake lever was sticking out almost straight. Guess I'm keeping it!

Changed out the entire front end, Longer fork. Found calipers with a long throw that hooked up. Run the GT Piston stem. 1 1/8 threadless set up. Chris King headset. Rides much better but needs better brake pads. Addded new decals. Time for pump track
