...and stumbled on these 'fresh finds' along the way

The bike that inspired today's scenic route...a Mundo Cycles BMX ...I know next to nothing about it except that it's old-school, has looptail, hos gussets, has camelback...but, that is enough for me :wink1:.

...and then three more, because it would be silly to go hours out of my way for one cheap bizarre little beater bike ...

Mongoose, '77-'79ish...

...the ever plentiful Murray westport-monterey-etc...

...and to class the group up a bit, a GT Edge Aero that is paper light...

...the tubes on this thing take the whole aero thing to the extreme. Too much of a breeze and you'd have to file a flight plan with the FAA. You could almost shave with the trailing edge of these tubes...

That's all...not the tastiest bunch, but...they are interesting. Well, except for the Murray...but, I have plans! :comando:

I was hoping, but, further research makes me feel 99.62% sure it is a clone, a royce union pro, 1979.

I may give it the full (cheap) goose treatment and keep it around for the youngins to beat on. Maybe get some vintage style 'NONGOOSE' decals made up.

I used to have an early 90's Mongoose ATB and ran across a guy riding a Royce Union that was identical, except: where mine had a threaded rear brake cable housing stop and a lock nut, his had unthreaded, mine had quick release wheels front and rear, his only the front, mine qr seatpost, his nut and bolt, mine Araya labeled rims, his unlabeled. Both had Pacific labels near the bottom bracket, but were otherwise indistinguishable from early Mongoose.
