Generation II tank template fine tuned. Used mat board to get a smoother cut. Transfers layout to piece of rough sawn cedar fence board scrap. Cut one out with jig saw. Now I need to find my router to add some relief to inside edges and exterior perimeter. I haven't used it for a while and wasn't where I thought it was. Think I'll have to move a few bikes to get to it. Once I get it fit I'll make the finals with clear pine.
Got the bikes moved, found my router. Had to get a curved relief cut bit. I routed the back side of the rough mockup tank half. Used a fence post as support. Just enough relief on edges to fit around tubes.
Drilled 7/8" holes with spade bit. Inserted 3/4" copper els for header effect. This could get more detailed or could stay as is.
Now I just need to make two finished halves.
Also need to check out my skip tooth chain to verify using it. My rims are ready to prep for paint.

Well when you get in a hurry, measure twice cut once comes into play. I cut the final tank halves this AM only to find that I forgot to add 1/4" to the perimeter. So I had to lay them out again and cut again. I used a heavier blade to get a more consistent cut, which was a good thing. So now I have two tanks. The first would have worked but it wasn't to specs.

Finals ready for some finish.
Painted the rims today. Also experimented with a little doodad that I picked up last summer at a swap meet. The light and brackets went unused from BO8T last summer.

I read in a post last year that bikes with racks were not well received. Both of my previous BO bikes had racks, so iAM Higgins May get one also. I have a Schwinn repop rack that no one wanted to buy at our last swap meet. I did a test fit tonight. The support arms will need bending and larger anchor holes. Think it just might work. Maybe a photo on Friday.
Rims got a second coat of paint. I'll let them cure out for a week or so before putting the hubs back in. Thinking about getting one of the HBBC shifters for the Nexus 3 speed hub.

Lookin great Ed! I personally don't care if racks are not well received, I like em! 20" bikes & girls bikes generally haven't done well in the big build offs either. I like them too! I guess that's just the non-conformist in me. Whatever you come up with I am sure will be cool.
Test fit the rack today.
Going to take the tank off do a little body work on it to get it paint ready after I clean our pond filter. First water lily bloomed today.
