I don't see how the curved and L shaped arms make any difference. It's still a straight line between the pedal and the hub. On that acute angle one, looks like the corner would hit the ground before a pedal strike

The only advantage is to the manufacturer. These things easily break so you have to get a new one.

The curved cranks looks quite cool though. They would match a cantilever frame well.
