Well Ladies and Gentleman it's been a long time since I looked in on everyone,so my son and I decided to take his "big Mo" branded chopper and do a chop and stretch job for a hotrod show that was ment to be on last week but was canceled some time ago but we said we would still build it and post on the organizers fb page, this is only the second bike I have welding been done on it and the first bike I have actually chopped up,the seat and frame panels are from skateboards I cut up,I used 4 pull down bars from broken multigyms as the extension rails, cut up a chainring for the separators at the back of the rails,I cut up a couple of lowrider bicycle exhausts and only needed to file them down a bit to slot into the end tubes,I used curtain rod ends for the ends of the lower rails, again I only needed to file down a bit to slot in,the seat cushion I used a thin bit of pegboard and glued a bit of foam camping mat to it and cut up an old polo shirt for the material and stapled it up and glued it to the shaped skate deck seat which is anchored to the bent over tab originally used for anchoring the mudguard to,I used the rubber bushings from a skateboard truck as a pivot point,I used some springs from an old seat I had attached to a some flat steel welded to the top rail which also helps strengthen the rails/frame to give some shock absorption, rear wheel dropouts are from the original frame I just cut them out and angle grinded a better shape, the bike stand arm is a rocker arm from an old cheap mountain bike rear suspension and bolted to the original brake bosses, the front wheel rockers are from a diamondback bike rear suspension, the struts are an old sissybar I cut up and twisted the ends to fit the fork brake bosses,I chained up the apehanger bars so they didnt move as these bars have been lengthened using heavy tube and the stem I used hasn't got a good clamp surface

Wowsers! Not too shabby for for your first chop! Kiddo looking a little proud too, good job Dad
Thank you, I've been wanting to cut up frames for a long time but never got round to it, I have found a guy at a hotrod shop that welds at a good price and I have everything ready for him to weld straight away so he doesn't need to do any prep work so is a good partnership, I see a lot of chop jobs on the horizon for me

Awesome build. Love the lines and I love the repurposed skateboard stuff
Thank you,if it's cheap or free I will most likely get it for future use,I have done paintings on skateboard decks and also done a couple of clocks built into them, my boy loves it but he is a shy lad so he may not take it out much

That thing is the "ducks nuts!"
yup I like how it came out,all I am going to do in the future is mount a discbrake wheel and caliper and use a long lever on the frame as a brake lever,it will look like a tall shifter,I was going to set it all up but no point untill I do the front wheel, the only other thing I will do is make a skate deck back support mounted to the seat and it will be done

So I sold Lockdown around a year ago as money was tight due to more covid lockdowns and uncertainty in my country, It was bought by a guy who does electric bikes and he put a 26inch electric wheel on the back to show he can work with any bike, well I had seen it for sale last week for less than I sold it and bought it back, 4-5 hour round trip and its back and in a rougher state than when I sold it and needs some work to bring it back to how I had it but that's fine as he used it as a daily rider to go to the shops on and a good speed of 50-60 kph which is insane speed on a bike like this, he agreed it was definitely a scary ride, in the end I'm glad he got good use out of it and I'm glad to have it back

Very creative. I sure couldn't build anything like that. How's that back tire feel on one's back when there's no fender of back protection?

Wow, cool you were able to get it back. Doing 60 with your butt that close to the ground: definitely insane!
Yer I guess he gave it a run at full watt just see what It could do and then probably just did cruising speed, he doesn't mess with lower volts, he says he plays with 48v to 84v systems, and he builds his own setups, he showed me a new stackable system which is plug n play so can customize how many battery trays you want, I'm not into electric bikes but can appreciate how far people go to turbo charge a system as it were

The intension was to do a small back or to use the fat mudguard as safety protection when originally building but to be honest I quite like it showing all that tyre, the guy I sold it to cut the back of the seat so am going to be redoing the seat so can work on a back rest or safety guard when I get to it

The prodigal sled; was loved, left the one who loved it, was used and abused, beaten and broken, and welcomed home to the place of honor
Yes indeed, time to put back the love and give it some new/old patina and some fresh nuts and bolts,it didn't come back with its headlight so will find another so it can see and shine again
