I was "gifted" a rusty Magna Great Divide mountain-ish bike. As it turned out the seat tube is 18," meaning there's a chance I could ride it. So with a couple of hot sweaty late afternoons I began working on it. I just had a hitch installed on my car so I can use a bike carrier. This bike will be a good test of it. If I don't get the bike properly secured or locked up I won't be out much if it comes up missing. Figure I can tote it into Raleigh on days I work at the office and ride around a bit after work. Provided it survives the day without being stolen. LOL
The suspension fork was rusted solid and would not give. So I swapped it for a normal type fork. This brought the front height down a couple of inches. This one has had some custom bending done to it from another project so that helped lower things too. Makes the bike even easier to ride.
Changing the handlebars also makes the bike easier for me to ride. I don't care for the Revoshift shifters, so I removed them and the front derailleur. Then dug up an old but working thumb shifter to run the rear derailleur.
Added an old chainguard too in typical rat fashion.
Need new tires to complete the anti-clunk conversion. Can't decide between black walls or white walls. Also, should I paint it?
