It made it inside today and the rear end does not look good. Its all welded together and there are rusted out bearings in there. Even the freewheel is welded together. What the heck were they thinking. Im gonna have a friend come over this weekend and look at it. It looks like a new axle will have to be fabricated

The more I think about it. If I cut the axle in the middle on each side equally between where the freewheel mounts and the bearing support, I can slide the axle halves out of the bearings. Then a tube with the correct inner diameter can be welded over them when they slide back together. I could also grind and remove the freewheel for replacement

Tires are off and more ideas came to mind to build a better mouse trap or is that a better ratmobile

Im sorry it doesnt look like I will finish in time. Ive been too busy with work and getting my car running well enough to make it to Monterey Car Week. I will finish it this winter and post pics
