I wasn't going to participate in this round of the Build-off, but this morning around 11:30, after cleaning up the garage, I had an idea. I found so much assorted cool crap laying around, I thought I would see what I could build in 1 day out of stuff in the garage, and spend no money, or leave the garage. Okay, so I left the gargae quite a few times, for food, bathroom breaks, and to take my daughter to the mall(twice).
It started as a '50s Western Flyer that Had been partially stripped to refinish. How cool is patina? Check out this finish. The wheels and tires came off a girls 26" Silver Crown(went ahead and spent the time to rebuild the hubs, as I know I will have to ride this thing). The seat is a really cool old rusted out thing that came from my buddy Don's shop, have no idea what it is off of. The chain guard is from another Western Flyer. I don't know if I will add anything else to it or not. Have some cool bobbed fenders that are mis-matched in paint, and a really odd-ball read carrier. I don't know yet.
The only part about this build that did not work was the chain. I couls not find a chain in all this stuff that would fit. All were too short, so I will have to add the chain tomorrow when I get home from work.
I know this won't win anything, but I had a good time today building this puppy from nothing but stuff laying in the garage. After all, I did clean up enough room by putting all these parts together, that now I have room for something else. Time to drag more projects home!

one day builds are fun to do when you have a bunch of spare stuff laying around. neat bike i like the wheels. one word though that someone else may say is i would have held off on doing the finished pics until you put a chain on it cause one of the rules does state "must be rideable" and i think that means pedal power not of the flintstones variety. but otherwise cool simple and ratty!
