So a co worker’s son needs a bike. I had a no name bmx frame/fork + sittin in my pile and I offered a build.
He’s 10, so being flash in branding isn’t important, but I wanna make the best of what i’ve got layin around.
Here’s the starting point-

This pic was taken last night. Just before prep and paint. I used what I had for color.

Always keep black in stock, and had some orange and blue leftover from another project.

Came home from work tonight and did assembly on what was there

Got the tires mounted. Hubs adjusted and wheels trued. The rear was pretty outta wack. Also, the freewheel was froze. Lil degreaser and a twist in the vise and it was spinning again. Flushed it with some spray grease and got it soundin good.

I decided to order a few parts yesterday vs using some of the old stuff I had. Awesomely, they came next day

I had originally wanted to run a chrome/silver crank, but I didn’t have a decent one I wanted to part with, but I did have a black one. Also cleaned up an old BB last night.

Just need to assemble.

Well, got it all built. The idea hit me Monday afternoon, and here it’s finished Wednesday evening. I get to ‘present’ it to its owner tomorrow. Thinkin he’ll dig it.

Being a new school frame, it’s made for smaller gearing. I had to space the front sprocket out off the frame because it was hitting. But it worked out. The gearing may be a bit spinny, but i’ll see what he thinks. If so, I’d like to go with a smaller freewheel. Anyhow, fun, fast build. And gets a kid on a bike for summer!!
