One day I was motivated to try to build a recumbent bike based loosely on the groundhugger recumbent.
This was my first frame build, it's not perfect but it's rideable and tracks straight.

I used parts from 13 different bikes, mostly old girls Huffy's I had in the pile out back.
And aside from a few nuts and bolts, I already had everything. So for less than $5, I have a custom recumbent that turns heads everywhere I go.
I'm looking forward to my next frame build

Thanks to everyone who followed along and gave input.

Man that is a long bike!
Looks comfy and cool!
You are going to need a longer truck to road trip with that one though. :)
Congrats on a cool build brother.

Thanks.
It's not bad considering I had no idea how to build a frame.
Wife says we'll work on a bigger truck, she's been wanting to get back out since we got home. Only next time we'll spend more than a couple hours at each place.

So stoked to see it up here finished and ridable!
Must be sight to behold on the road :)
I'll be taking a close look at the steering linkage whenever I take on a long ride like this...

Thanks.
When you do a build like this let me know, I'll get some detail shots for you.

I'm liking the chain linkage that Carl did on his bike, I might try my hand at something like that one day.

Explain this.
New tires, tubes, and rim strips. Wheels clean and free of rust. I've spun the wheels under my fingers looking for sharp spots and barbs.... Nothing.

Yet both tubes refuse to hold air.

Where do the tubes leak when you test them?
Sometimes you have a tiny thorn that you can't feel. Or the valves are bad?
Either way, it should reveal itself under water...If there's holes on the top of the tube, thorns. On the inner part, something from your rim.
I'm guessing you already know all this though and there is something more mysterious happening ;)

My kinda bike!..Trust me, you'll NEVER get rid of it! :wink1: (meant as a GOOD thing)

It's funny, someone actually did offer to buy it. But right now it's my favorite rider.
And you're probably right, I'll probably mount it to the roof of my garage one day.

Glad you like it.
