The other day while out working on one of my bikes.
A neighborhood college girl stopped at my driveway.
She asked me if I had any bikes for sale.
I showed her what was in the back yard.
But I didn’t have quite what she was wanting.
I told her I was going to a swap meet the next day
and I would keep my eyes open.
I woke up late and quickly drove to the swap.
Not much there got me some pedals
and some fenders for my Baby Deluxe.
But not a single older cruiser.
On a whim I stopped at a antique store that I knew
had some older bikes awhile back.
This is what I came home with...

It would be about a 55 Ross Super Deluxe.
(the best match I could find on old roads.)
Best of all it seemed to be all their.
(tank, rear rack, chain guard, and fenders)

We discussed what to do to the Ross.
And decided to just clean her up and clear coat the paint.
Maybe have some pin stripes added.
We’ll also add a front basket.
Some one painted the chrome with silver paint.
We’ll see if I can clean the chrome up.
If not I’ll find some better handle bars and chainwheel.
I’ll keep the pict coming

I like where this is headed. I've seen movies that start like this!

She asked me if I had any bikes for sale.

Dang!

But I didn’t have quite what she was wanting.

Yep, I hear that from women a lot too...uh-oh, you mean the bikes.

Thats a nice old Ross. She's lucky, there won't be too many authentic vintage cruisers on campus. She'll have a one of a kind.

i got some of the parts clear coated last night
tank, rack, chain guard, and front fender

hey there mike, thats a great looking bike! must be great living in a country where there's such a deep history in bicycles. over here, if its rusty, the rag and bone man hauls its away if its not locked down!

thanks for posting up these pics!

can't wait to see how this ends up.

btw, while you're snapping pictures of the bike....snap us a few of this girl you're building the bike for, :D cuz i have a theory that the better looking the girl who asked you for help, the greater the effort would be in helping.

just wanna see if this theory holds water ...thats all...honest! haha

i have this same bike except the sprocket is bigger, same cutout. has a delta light front fender mount. truss rods. and the rack is different. the badge is the same... maybe a 56?
