Hey there. So I just got done fixing up some old Schwinns and suddenly another bike finds its way into my life. This one is a Sears bike.

Oh yeah. This baby screams ugly. But it also screams potential. This babe is gonna get the oh so hipster fixie style redo. My girlfriend got it for free. She has no bike and isnt the best rider, so I thought might as well do it for her so she can role with me. Its got straight style handle bars on it right now. Hanging off it are some drop downs though. I am gonna remove all the crome on this thing. I will ruff it up and lay down primer, then white paint, then a clear coat. Then I am thinking I will wrap them up in white wrap. The body I am going to sand down, prime, and do in a cherry red paint, then clear. No logos on it. Maybe put her name on it in oil lettering. Purchasing a white chain for this bike as well. If I come across a white seat I will put that on there. Going to ruff up the spokes and rims, those will get the white and clear coats.

May keep the seat, but vinyl die in in cream/tan...

No brakes. So I have to get that figured out. Probably gonna have to take it the bike shop and have them deal with that. But I think this should be a killer bike when it is all said and done. Should be a quick build. I dont know about colored tires as of yet. I may keep the old leather seat on there because it has a vintage feel to it. But I am thinking I will vinyl dye it a creamy tan color.

Going for something like this:

Okay so I just got home from college and the girlfriend and I began to get it how she wants to ride.

Start

She wanted to help build so I put the tools in her hands:

Dropped the sketchy front brake. Dropped the extra chrome. No more new handle bar

Free- wheel hub. Gonna need to have front brakes because she wont be able to back pedal on it to slow down like a fixed hub.

Breaking it down:

Ol' chrome drop bars:

Got the drops on:

All done and set to how she will ride (minus the no brakes) but now we must paint and make it adorable for her. Its a very light bike. It should be pretty good. Going to dechrome mostly. White where there is chrome. Red frame. White rims/tires. Clearing it all. Going glossy, no matte paint here.

All done for the day, seat and stem heights adjusted for her:

Next post should be painting and re- installation. Going to be a really nice and cool bike. I am already jealous of her

I like the orange as well. Those drop bars make me feel pain to think of bending down so low. Oh to be a little younger and more limber again.

Build is going very well. Break down and up to prep:

I ordered new pedals. The old ones hurt to ride barefoot. Ordered white tires. They are going to look so cool on this bike. Also ordered white wrap for the bars. Bike should pick up pace again once those items come in

Put it back together:

sold this thing just a week ago. it changed a lot in its life and i rode it in my senior year in college everyday, even in the snow. brakeless was just so cool. crashed so hard on this bike that i completely bent the frame. idk what it was made out of but i bent the frame back into alignment. haha. my hip and hands are ruined forever with the scars of the crash. I tore through my jeans and my underwear and totally ...... myself up.

it ended life with the original drop bars flipped upside down and cut in half as bull bars for climbing hills. final picture i have shows the pista bars i put on it. thing got so many looks on my college's campus
