So, this afternoon, my little guy asked me to play cars with him.
"My cars, or yours, Buddy?"
"Yours, Daddy!"
"Which ones?"
"All of them!"
This ain't even all of the ones that are out of the package!

So I realized a couple of things:
1.I might have a collection problem. I collect collections.
2. You peeps might have stuff I want to collect.
Show me. Stuff you think is cool. Stuff you think other Ratters might think is cool. Stuff I might want to start collecting collections of. Musical instruments? Dig it! Toys? Super cool! Horror business! That's my business! Comix? Rad! Records? I'm in! Stacks of old Mad Magazines? What, me, envy? Guns, knives, sharp pointy sticks? You know where to stick it! Faberge eggs? I'll look. Not necessarily bike related, but there are bonus points for bike stuff.

I have an embarrassingly large collection of chainsaws.
Here's a little sample

Oldest- this is a ten dollar saw that I bought with the intention of powering a bicycle with it. Piston and cylinder are pristine.

Is that a red tri 5 parked in front of Earl's? The 55 in the middle near the front of my group is my favorite from when I was a kid. I call it the Champ, more of an honorary title, hasn't won many races lately.

Do you name them?

I assumed you would have something tasty. I also assume they're players, especially since they're already strapped. Nice setup
I've got an ever changing collection of somewhere around 30-35 players... and I build the occasional CBG

I have all my trains and my fathers collection, probably around 300 engines alone in N, HO, and O as well as a 2 x 4 foot Z scale layout. Nothing setup right now but...

I also have a fair collections of Oatmeal glass and Harlequin china, a ton of Hotwheels, Lego minfigs and old hymnals.

Carl.
Used to play bass. Had a wicked Rickenbacker that sounded like THUNDRRRRRRR through an overdrive pedal. In a dark period, I had to sell it for something stupid like rent or drugs.

Sometimes we let things go and later wish we hadn't. I sold this Ibanez for spit and lost a '60 Les Paul jr at the pawn shop a day late to pick it up. I know about the dark periods of life.

Ya, I hawked a hollow body Ibanez to buy crap too. "Belle" was too good for me. And another sweet accoustic that I can barely remember losing. I feel lucky that I still have my RockRat. And my family.

Do you name them?
Ha!...no. So far the only one with anything close to sentimental value is the little Stihl 009L that I've had for 20 or so years. But it's all just stuff.
Most were just bought because I stumbled across them for so cheap that I thought it wasn't a terrible idea to bring them home.

I plan to sell a few, along with a few bikes, to make room for a welder and some other more useful stuff, or go on vacation.
Maybe I'll get a guitar, or a mandolin.

Still sits in the garage and waits for me to finish with repairing holes and start putting it back together.

Besides bikes, I'm also into mopeds.

A present for my Girlfriends birthday two years ago in the state as I found it:

And after rebuild:

Here is me working on the moped that I bought on my trip to Oldtown Festiwal 2018:

Also since Postapocalyptic Parties/Conventions/Festivals are my other hobby, making postapocalyptic cars is also another thing:

My old Renault Clio turned into an armored car

And my mostly daily driven Honda Civic:

Those are actual bullet dents. Every six of them.

And sometimes even making modifications on-the-spot, like with this VW Polo 6N during Oldtown Festiwal 2017:

When it comes to crafting postapocalyptic stuff, the size doesn't matter. Like building a whole camp for me & my friends:

Up to smaller things like gas masks:

50589451_313602652602187_9050874961857609728_n.jpg

And whole suits & airsoft replicas:

60871324_1252216058281269_4639808712662319104_n.jpg

Be aware that crafting postapocalyptic stuff is very contagious. Till now I have two complete suits, four airsoft replicas, two Pip-Boys, and a whole lot of smaller stuff. not to mention a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. cosplay for themed LARPs.

Besides that model cars and... My Little Pony figurines

I used to collect 1:18 and 1:87 cars, but stopped as I don't really want more stuff unless I make it. The only things I might add to are these 1:72 WW2 ETO fighters. They sit under my WW2 book shelf.

or some Polish near facsimile?

Close enough
trabant60104.jpg

It's a 1977 GDR made Trabant 601 S. It's a 4 person, two door sedan that weights only 1355lb, and with a two cylinder, two stroke engine with a displacement equal to a lawnmower (only 36cuin), and 26 horsepower it reached an astonishing top speed of 76mph :21: (but it has a very big trunk for it's size of only 139inX59in)
241ea6f67a51282ede88389f8acb4fc3.jpg

Also all the fenders, roof, door sheets, bonnet cover & hood were made of duroplast.

I had seven of those, and this ratty little thing is the last one i got. Also this one is special since it's in a very rare color, that was used only in 1977 (and only for GDR domestic market) to celebrate the production of the 1000000 Trabants. Traded it with a friend for a good bottle of booze :cool2:(sadly with no engine, transmission & rear suspension, but still, a good deal)

Also a fun fact - it was one of the safest cars of the communist bloc. ADAC performed a crash test of a used Trabant 601 (by the time almost 20 years old), and it came way above it's class, crushing cars like very popular in that time Fiat Cinquecento, and was listed with cars such as Toyota Land Cruiser or Mercedes W126.

I might look for some more pictures of it at home.

I have a war history section on my shelf too!

Trust me, it's in there somewhere. My family was still in the Netherlands for the occupation. Survived some crazy stuff, got involved in activities that I never heard about until grandpa's funeral. Wish they could have shared, I would have loved to talk to them about it. Heroes in my mind, just people doing what needed to be done in their minds.
