Keeping it simple…installed the truss rods, adjusted front wheel bearings, cleaned rust from stem, cleaned some rust from crank and chainring, cleaned up seat clamp, greased bottom bracket bearings and cups/cones, then installed them.

Think I’ll experiment with some other handlebar options.

I’d picked up this bullet light a while back. I think I have some other mounting brackets…not sure on mounting location. I might try doing a trick “floating” mount off the fork bottom over the tire. I’ve done a couple previously…has to look clean.

Some pedal block options…

Found a set of Thompson coke bottles in my parts stash.

Looks like they match tires fairly well. Just put one on part way in case I decide to change out bars.

I like the middle set of clay pedal blocks with those tires and Thompson grips.

As I’ve said before a simple build...I’m noticing that could still get the chain a bit cleaner, I may not be that obsesive compulsive though.

Found a good deal on a B67 saddle…couldn’t pass it up. If it doesn’t end up on Silver Vein I’ve a couple other bikes that would welcome it.

Added the chain, brake arm clamp, adjusted the tension and centered up back wheel. The seat post is bottomed out on counterbore, I’ll need to shorten it up a couple of inches at least. Need to put chainguard back on and finalize bars so I can add grips…I’ll need to do some test spins. Pedal blocks clash a bit with tires.
Happy to see 3K views based on the simplicity of this bike build.

In rebuilding the Silver Vein Lichen bike you might remember it had actual lichens on the rusty frame. I have an infinity for plants and have experimented with a lot landscape plants and trees. Some lived, some died, some did well, some I’d never play again.
We have a special fondness for cacti and succulents before they were popular. Every year around October I regret the arduous task of hauling them inside and down to a basement plant room. I keep thing stop hauling them home. Well we went to our local yearly cactus and succulent show and sale and 7 new ones followed us home…I did show restraint this year.

we had a cool drizzly morning as I repotted most of them from their plastic containers. They are starter sized plants. And back to the bike…

Now that I see the pedal blocks on there, I concur. Just not the right shade of clay. Maybe the black ones instead?
Clean and simpl-y beautiful. Doo dad free. She's a real beaut, Clark.
Clark?

Mocking up a bracket…1/4” bolts, copper coated piping strap stock…hand forming. Need to test fit tomorrow.

Bike is looking beautiful man. I remember when I had blocks like your third set on Firewing and they clashed with the clay tires. I ended up using gel stain to dirty up the pedals to tone them down a bit. But I was going ratty on that build. This one is too clean a rat to fauxtina the pedals or tires. I bet the black ones will look the best.

Here’s the bracket installation location…3/8” truss rods.
