I thought, I wonder if "Streetfighter Chopper" is a thing.

Not very satisfying results, mostly combining the things I like least about streetfighter trends with the things I like least about chopper trends.

However, I did find this

Think I need some red paint and a trike conversion kit

Found my build all the way back on page 4.

Made some progress tonight on installing the face plate and lights. Changing the plan for mounting them yet again

didn’t stop to take in progress photos. But here’s where we ended up.

Behind the plate is a lot of crap that might charitably be called fabrication.
Works for now. Still need to reinforce it a little before riding. Pretty sure it will slide down the forks when subject to road vibrations.

Next I’d like to make a panel with switches for lights etc.

Also need to make a seat pan as I’m not happy with the standard vinyl banana.
Made a verbal deal (six months ago) with another Chicago Taildragger to swap some design work for seat upholstering. Gotta make sure that’s still on the table (some time in the next six months).

Had the face plate off to improve the mounting. Figured I’d share some pics of the back side.

Design flaws include:
Held on with only one bolt.
Many much needed washers missing.
If the plate deforms nothing prevents rotation. A second bracket should be added for strength and to stop the actual face plate taking most of the tension, but whatevs.
Aluminium is not an ideal material for the rear bracket. It doesn’t really spring back at all, just bends.

Next I started on the design for the control panel.
Mounting bracket currently held in place with futuristic magnets.

Little more progress tonight. Even remember to take some process pics.

It mounts directly to the steer tube, and also to an L on the face plate. The L does double duty of stoping the panel from rotating and stopping the faceplate from sinking downward with road vibrations (In theory)

A fun game you can play at home as you follow along is watch as I gradually destroy the finish on the work piece, then take bets on if I’m going to go back and polish it later.

I got new eye protection this week, so I can still look like a hipster even when wielding an angle grinder.

There's the Nishiki too, Deaddy Long Legs.
And the Nirve clone, Good From Afar. That tragedy is still on the operating table, but hope is fading

No pics from tonight. But I can upgrade the bike’s status to Rideable. It’s a good day.

It has the ability to go, stop, and shift gears. Even has air in the tires!

Hopefully sometime this week I’ll take it out for a shakedown ride and try to knock any gremlins loose.

Speaking of gremlins. No electrics yet. Still figuring out my circuit. I’m hesitant with things that are either expensive or ouchie when you get them wrong.

Though, I have decided to move the battery from under the seat to inside the front triangle, off the seat tube and top tube.
Gonna look for a nice box to put it in.

Took it for a shakedown up and down the alley a few times.

got some quirks to work out, but overall went well.

worst thing was the rear tire rubbing on one side. Probably need the wheel redished to fix it. But I already knew that.
