I built up this bike along side my class two bike this season. So why not enter it into class 1
It started as a donor bike for my Airship build, but was too cool not to build up.

after a wash up. At this point I straightened up the bent guards, aired up the tyres and went for a pedal around the yard

Next step, strip off all the extras.
Chain guard gone
Fenders gone
Gears gone
Also an upgrade to 700c wheels. Starting to look a little cooler

Classy step into the modern era.

Lots and lots of polishing using automotive polish, bought the factory paintwork up like new.
Set of Tektro brakes added to suit the 700c rims. White cables to match the rims and rubber

Changed out the stem, added some flat bars, and a new saddle. Continuing the white on red theme. Have successfully put a few fun miles on this one now. Given a new lease of life to an old unloved bike.

Ah, it is always good to see an old Raleigh with a new lease of life, although those forks always bring back a guilty memory of riding my brother's Sun into the back of a car and not only bending the fork but popping the frame joints. And then lying to him about it.

Those white wheels somehow make the whole machine look purposeful, more robust even.
