No longer distracted. :D. Got home and put the grips on and checked out the bars in the daylight.

I forgot to take a pic, but I spent the rest of the evening prepping and painting about 10 or 15 different small parts. Kickstand, guard brackets, seat bracket, seat spring, vintage seat chassis, front fork springer top bracket, etc etc. Most of the little parts you forget about might need paint.

Only pic is of the kickstand parts. I think I went through most of the parts. I ran out of hanging hooks and daylight. Some parts will need another coat.

The last thing I want to happen is starting to put this baby together and then having to wait a day for a part to be painted and dry.

Bars look great!
Do you have any silver sparkle grips?

That's what I was about to say after seeing bars painted....

I have one so far. :D. This was my first idea when I was brainstorming with DrT, but then I thought the silver/gold WF grips wiuld be better. I like those, but the off color and the bulkiness of them just don't highlight the bars. These RocketL grips are awesome on the bars and they have been painted before. Thanks for the feedback suggestion. It pushed me to paint these this morning.

I had to play around a little while I was waiting on paint to dry. Been busy this morning painting the grips and other small parts. Slowly getting there. I can't seem to find my cranks and chainring yet :D . I don't remember where I put them when I broke everything down. :D

Got the old grips off. Man, the paint acted like glue. The thin screwdriver making a channel for wd40 didn't do it.

I did find a new way to remove grips. Put a towel in your vise table and then close the table smaller than the grips but bigger than the bars. Put your foot on the base of the table and pull hard on the bars. They came right off.

My screwdriver and the grips did mess up the silver paint. The RocketL grips aren't as deep either.

So I taped off the bars and feather in some silver over the messed up ends.

More painting of small parts. I did find my cranks and yes they do need painting. There is more than this. Waiting for dry or second coats.

Copied @Jake Sensi and used the butterfly kickstand as a workstand. Check out this beautiful wheelie machine.

I got these Promax Chain Tensioners somewhere and I thought they would look good on SteamRoller.

WOW!!! Nothing like coming inside all sweaty after a very long day of working on your build off bike, just to find out that you won a 29” custom (1 of 10) lightning bolt frame built by Robert Belyea (Mr HB Cruiser). Life is good!!! :D I'll update my SteamRoller work later. It was a fun day.

After getting more coppertone paint, I finished painting all of the smaller parts I needed too (I think :D ). Looks like I didn't take many pics of them. Oh well. Here are the sissy bar springs and the cranks with their silver metallic basecoat. I followed over this with coppertone for these parts.

After getting all of the paint color on everything, it was only 4pm or so. I had planned to move forward and start with assembly. I didn't have any clear coat on any parts and had sort of resigned myself to the fact that I didn't have time for clear for this build. But after I cleared the silver metallic grips I loved how the clear made the metallic glitter pop. To clear or not to clear, that was the question. Once again I reached out to Tank and he suggested testing it on the fork first and then decide from there. Words of wisdom again.

Once I laid the clear on the main fork legs and held it up to the sunlight, it was a no brainer. No idea why I even hesitated taking the time out of the build to accomplish this. While I know it won't dry quite as shiny as it was wet. The difference it makes in the way the color and glitter pop is pretty killer.

Right away, I continued my merry go round of grabbing a part out of the shop, going to the lane to clear coat it, then finding a place on the carousel to hang it to dry. Rinse repeat.
