Delightful and nerve wracking at the same time

I got the tires on today, and they are loud! :) but in a good way, I think!

I did the unthinkable - I stuck with middleweight tires, which I never do. When mocking it with some 26 X 2.125’s it was tight in the rear with these fenders. It would requiring modding the brackets on rack that hold the fenders, so I decided to stick with the 26 X 1.75’s.

I gotta say I like it wit lh these fenders because you almost see the whole tire.

WOW! This really came together. I wasn't sure about the black seat tube when I first saw it, but with the guard and the tires and the whole package, it all really works.

The tires really look good against the striped/chrome fenders!
The tire / fender combo is a winner!

Thanks!
It has definitely gone further than I originally envisioned. When the chrome on the frame and especially the rims cleaned up like it did, it changed my course of direction a little bit. It has turned into a pretty nice bike.

I’m currently striping the rack, trying to capture the original pattern. If I don’t go crosseyed, I should get it done with it this evening.

Beautiful build. Excellent choices and execution.

That thing really pops! Nice work!

I painted the rack and considered leaving the center graphic design original because it was a hard to duplicate pattern of stripes and it was fairly decent shape. I planned on touching it up and clearing it, but when I pulled the masking tape off most of it came up with the tape. That said, I sanded it back down, painted that part back black and I hand laid down chrome pin stripes to recreate the original pattern.

I’m happy with the way it turned out. it’s basically the pattern and colors that were factory, except brighter, shinier colors.

Before: (after the masking tape pulled the pattern off)

On to the bars, and maybe a cool taillight and I’m getting close to being done.
I gotta decide now if I want to put the apes back on it or do something else. Suggestions?

The rack turned out great. I think that's the first vintage rack I've seen with a built in 'beverage holder' in the back!
The only thing that sticks out for me right now are the grips. They just don't seem to fit with all your red stuff. I know reds are hard to match, but anything in a redder hue would be better. Maybe some 'rocket grips' , with a pointy end would be appropriate?

@ifitsfreeitsforme (Ian) has some great grips that he produces. I think there is a red clay-ish hue that might work pretty well with your set up. Ian, do you have a link to your stuff?

I ordered some sparkle silver ones to match the seat, so I’ll try them first.

I’ve got these bars, a set of wide 40’s era cruiser style, a set of curved beach bar style, and the apes that was on it when I got it. I’m going to mock all of them up and see what I like best.
I’d like to come up with some kind of headlight too.

No, I was tweaking the fenders on the Strato Flyer today, I couldn’t help but throw the wheelset on my CWC Roadmaster Dreamliner project. When the Strato Flyer and the Rollfast is done I’m planning on jumping hard on this one!

It’s pretty funky looking!
