Maybe I have had just a little to much coffee today :roll: .... But is this finalized tire combo? or are you going with the Jerald?

following this closely, just picked up a eliminator 20" frame. I can weld and was thinking of the same 24/20 combo!! Looks nice so far!!

Thanks for the comments and motivation Skipton! Yes, that is the final: Hoggy G (2.625") in back Specialized 1" in front.
Was shooting for the Jerald slick but then I found I could go fatter. Once there, I couldn't go back :lol:
Agree with you about the paint and am going to manage my expectations about matching and just get it done.

Thanks WC! Congratulations on your Eliminator frame!
With welding, you could add more to the dropout and put the 24" in a relatively straight forward way.
You can see (pic in middle of page1)where the plate might be added.
Even thought about dropping out the back like a modern single speed. I've got some sketches if you want to see them.

Small update:
20" Bike:
Frame is being stripped yet. Made a 1/2" open wrench ground thin to rebuild the 20" recumbent wheel
Started taping it off for painting the rim. My wife is still thinking about the color for frame and rims
Sick of trying to figure out how to straighten the 24" fork and am pursuing another
24" Bike:
Going to my LBS for help with finding a BMX short crank set up where the chainline works (3rd try)
If that doesn't work then will install the Sugino 170mm cranks and live with it
Hopefully am going to get a lot more work done tomorrow but all boring detail stuff
Thinking should just put the 24" bike together and try everything, then tear it apart again

This has got to be one of the most dragged out builds I've done :?
Got another build in the works too and have been thinking a lot about the Buildoff...

Got over some hurdles with the 24” Eliminator last weekend.
Talked with the mech at One on One bike shop about any other options for the cranks. Pics of their "Junkyard":

I think we exhausted almost all options without reaming out the frame tubes coming through the bottom bracket tube (like on the Spaceliner) which is way too much work. Found a 5.5” one piece crank in good condition for $6.
There still could be a BMX option but I’m tired of looking for now.
Just decided that this will never be a lightweight bike (with a 2 lbs rear tire) but will have multi speeds, so just get it done.

Found a different 24” fork that wasn’t bent or wrong. Went to ridiculous effort to drive and purchase a whole bike to get it.
But it was one of the defining features of the build.
I’ll post some pictures after I sand blast the pink paint off it, LOL. It has a nicer rake to it than the last one.

So did a dry assembly and really could have had it ridable if I would have lubed everything.
Getting much closer now and am now trying to decide the final parts (seat/sissybar/grips/pedals) that I want and can pull out of my parts bins.
Lots of details left but at least all the essential parts are done.

Did work on frames today, gun bluing experiment for the buildoff

And got some painting done on my wife's 20" bike and the 24" fork on mine

Just decide to go with the Fiery Orange Metallic whether it matched or not
May mock it up before clearcoat (stay tunned)

Got my wife to decide on a color (which she had previous liked) :lol:
So Sunrise red, closest to cherry red I could find (quickly)
She's got a "cherry bomb" idea in her head :D

Thanks Nick, I like it too but kinda sure it won't match with the stock paint on the 24"
If I was more talented, I might feather it in to the original paint
I'll be putting it together soon and update ya

So I got all the red on my Wife's 20" Cherry Bomb and started with clear.
I can't believe no fish eyes or runs (so far)
This was only my second paint job, ever.
First one in 1985 in the paint booth at the body shop at work :lol:

So it doesn't look great but reasonably okay.
I'm working on this one too because my Wife's grand nephew is coming into town
Not sure if he's big enough for the other 26" bikes

Looking forward to getting the Cherry Bomb together
First my way :lol: tall sissy bar, black nanar/grps/pedals and of course the Big and Littles :D
Then we'll have to modify it the way my wife wants "her" bike, Maybe white nanar/fork/seatpost decal

First I'm going to catch up with a post I put into my RRB#7 Build:

17June:
I had to post a few pictures of the other bike that has to get done sooner (than JUP)
Got the paint done on my Wife's Eliminator so I took 6 hours straight to assemble it

The rear coaster hub is so loose it's almost unridable?!!!! (bought that way)
Like always, I'll have to go through it and make it work properly
The tire slightly rubs on the chain. Once I fix the sloppy factory hub settings I can see how big of a problem it is

On the chain clearance, are you set on that front chainring? I had a Wald unit like it on my Fatbelly Bobber and had 'slight' rubbing too. I noticed that one on a Schwinn is 'dished' (see below). I flipped it so it dished out, it gave me about 3/16" clearance, no more tire rub....

My wife likes it because it's "different" but it needs to work
I was fighting 1 twisted crank, 1 bent crank, a bent chainring and the one that's on now it's exactly the most true either

Well now I'm caught up with this post.

Life is full of compromises and timelines. This bike hit both :roll:
My Grand nephew is coming this Saturday and I had to get it done

Took it all apart again, put the dished chainring and went through the hub
Tried to polish up the dull parts and cleaned up the pedals

Still had a clearance issue between the chain and 20X3 Innova, Arghhh!
Time to make it work, so I bought a Hook worm 20 (iso 406) x1.9 at my LBS (700g)
I wanted to go with a Schwalbe Big apple 26x2.125 (530g)
but they didn't have them in stock

The back tire looks too small. It's exactly the height of the front tire 20 (iso 451) x 1.25

But I have to tell you it's 1.5 lbs lighter and rolls really smooth. I actually really like how the bike rides
The Innova was way out of balance too, (shook the whole bike when testing the hub :shock: )
Maybe I'll have to order that Schwalbe but in the mean time it works! :D
My wife likes how it rides smooth but she had to get used to the ape hangers :lol:

Went for a small shakedown ride today
Saw my bike mechanic friend and he took it down the block
He thought it rode really smooth too :D
We were looking to see if a deeper offset hub gear would fit
He agreed with me that there wasn't much room for it

So I continued towards the river and stopped off at Dowling Community Garden (est 1943)
Some of the vegetables were already getting big

It seems to be okay for my nephew to ride and a tighten check
So my wife already started thinking about embellishment
I asked if there were too girlie, could they wait a bit longer :lol:

Well I'm glad I got things sorted out
My Nephew wanted to check out the bike He's going to have for the next couple of weeks
(Special circumstances for the parking lot ride only but we have a helmet from now on)

He says in rides smoothly. :D
He did well especially because it doesn't handle like his Diamondback BMX
