Here's a bike I upgraded that I'm flicking off, was a better quality department store bike, nice alloy frame
I taped up around the original branding and stenciled "Taxi" on it because that's what the colour scheme reminds me of, put better quality stem/bar/levers on, swapped the generic 700x25c tyres for kenda Keens 700x38c to add urban meat, swapped the basic steel crank for a painted Shimano 105 crank, pro lite narrow/wide chainring, upgraded the thumb shift to a revoshift grip shift, upgraded the basic Shimano derailleur with a tourney derailleur, basic bb got upgraded to an FSA sealed bb, every thing greased with marine grade grease
Whole bike is now zippy and gears are nice and crisp when changing gears, brakes are nice and smooth but can lockup in an instant if need be

So sold this a few weeks ago for a nice profit even though I sold it for a really good bargain price, sold to a German or Austrian sounding guy called manfred, he only swapped the seatpost for a taller one, he messeged me 3 times since I sold it to him praising me on how clean/tidy and precise the gears/brakes work and how quiet and solid it is, it's always a good feeling when someone is so happy with a bike I build that they send messeges and pictures
