Have just joined the forum from Downunder thought I would put a
couple of pic's of one of my current builds.

Inspired by a couple of New Zealanders, firstly Burt Munro he purchased
a 1920 Indian Scout and over a few years modified it into a streamliner.
Eventually he took it to Bonneville salt flats and broke records, some of
which still stand to this day! His story was told in one of my all time
favorite films "The World's Fastest Indian" if you haven't seen it make

My second inspiration perhaps lesser known John Britten he built his own
V twin and I am talking everything, engine, gearbox, frame and eventually
took his bike to Datona and won the Battle of the Twins race beating all

Did a bit of a search on the net and found out John Britten's first build was
an Indian Scout so after a bit of thought I decided to build a pushie as a
tribute to a couple of my country-men who thought out of the box and built
world beaters in their shed out the back! Just off the subject the All Blacks
New Zealand's Rugby team won the World Cup last night beating France!

Now she won't be a streamliner, trying to get as close to a 1920 Indian
Scout as I can, using bits scrounged from here and there. By the way she
has been a slow build as well, hate it when work gets in the way of fun!

So here she is mocked up and ridable in primer paint, she's a cruzier not a speed machine, rides okay.

This is where I am at now, guards on, carrier done, making up some lights, fake tank then paint.

Welcome and very nice job on that bike. Will try and read the links later. Saw the movie it was cool.
 
I have heard of and folled both of these guys. one of our best friends owned the Indian shop in Tacoma, WA till they went out . my dad had a 1948 chief that he built the engine up. that sucker went 147 mph. now that was in the 50's. my mother also had a scout that my dad built and it was clocked at 130 mph. that too was in the 50's. I was lucky to have grown up with Indians. before my folks bought the house that I grew up in, it belonged to our friend who had the shop. after it shut down we rented the house. so guess what I got to play with. all kinds of Indians that were down in the basement. what a life to have. thats why I stayed with bike and built my own choppers and dirt bikes. it runs in my family. I just sold my Road KIng in May and don't ride em anymore. still luv em . sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread. just thought it may be interesting.

Back on this one after a bit of a break, detail stuff, fake tank, lights, rear stand and chain guard.
Taken her out for a few rides everybody loves her, few things still to do, front brake sorted out
few other bits and bobs then it's paint, hopefully soon.

Decided to use springer front end for now, front light is a motorbike lens and frame and
an old office light for the shade, rear light a cut down garden light spot.....

Found this nice chain guard, couldn't resist using it, probably will paint it but after buffing
off the rust I just clear coated it a couple of times, looks okay clear or paint, un-decided?

So bit to do before paint, the pouch one of the loves of our lives "Fly" the eight year
old Boarder Collie, great dog she's a great mate too, hangs out with me in the shed.

Cool build, definately has a certain Indian flare about it. Nice job.
 
Yeah here ya go, link to where I brought mine, not expensive and works well.
Doesn't spring up fast, nice and slow, old school look too. Probably cost more
to post than it will to buy! Link following..............

Lovin the frame style!! Looks good with or without a tank. Cant wait to see it whole again with paint!
 
Finally after a lot of planning, cutting, welding, bogging, sanding, priming, painting and putting together 
she is pretty close. Bit I'm most pleased about only paid for the tyres, bars, stand and seat, not bad for 
a dump bike aye! Just a bit more to do, wiring and power for the front and rear lights and want to put 
on a rear carrier, might go for black tyres don't know if I'm real keen on the white?



Been riding her round gets plenty of looks and comments, best yet a mate asked where'd you buy that? The 
ultimate compliment for a custom bike, she's made in the shed not in a factory! She rides okay, a lot
 better than I thought, no speed demon obviously, thing that did surprise me her high speed cornering,
 goes around fast corners sweet as, plus I love that she does actually look like an Indian!
