Hello!
I am new to this forum, and I'm trying to get some more info on this bike.

When you mean "fix it up", would you have it repainted?
No. Fresh tires if needed - maybe not if these hold air. Clean and grease the bearings. Wash the bike with soap and water. The most value this bike would fetch would be with the paint as-is.

14 EH shows it to be a 1941 Snyder made bike. They also made Rollfast bikes and many were badged Hawthorne. I had a 42 Hawthorne. The first 2 digits of the serial number is the year reversed. The lower number is the sequence number.
They were known as tallframe bikes, a 20" seat tube vs the usual 18".

The straight downtube also shows it earlier than 42, mine is the next version that has a curved downtube. It looks like original paint on your bike because the serial number doesn't show any paint added and the head badge doesn't look like it was ever taken off to repaint. Mine was sandblasted with no original paint left.
Like everyone else has recommended, a good cleaning and shining would be the best bet for your bike. The rims will shine up too, probably the fenders too. The tries look great for being that old, but a new set of tires, a good set of new 26 x 2.125 tires will ride better, if they have a smooth tread pattern. I would clean and save those old tires.
I wish I could find a bike like that over here.

Snyder also used the bottom bracket covers like Columbia. The other 41's I've seen all have skip tooth, but your rims match and it's the right style of chain wheel, just not skip tooth. Maybe they had a complete wheel set to change with from a later bike, but my guess is that is original to the bike.
Here's a 41 women's Rollfast (Snyder made) that shows the same chain wheel only in skip tooth and the same chain guard and truss rods. Your rear hub is probably a New Departure which is what may have come with it. The rims have a pinstripe like yours also.
