Unusual Canti steel frame

I picked up this almost complete bike with “custom” paint work for $30 today primarily for the nexus 7 wheel set. The aluminum plates with Eldorado laser cut into them are definitely not factory fitted.

The nexus 7 doesn’t look familiar and the rims are Japanese made Arayas. The tubes have threaded Dunlop valves. I believe the wheels are original to the bike as it has brazed on fittings on the down tube for the shifter cable.

The seat post is 22.2mm and the stem is a 21.1mm Taiwanese MX550. I believe the bike is Taiwanese made with the serial number under the bottom bracket and u shaped bracket to hold the kickstand in place. The crank set, chainwheel and pedals are identical to my 98 Trek cruiser. The fork has 97 stamped on the steerer which would match the parts fitted to it.

Can anyone let me know what it is?

Thanks Sandman. I found a couple of photos on the internet of an Australian branded bike named the Apollo retro.

We’re in a short lockdown at the moment so i spent about 6 hours today building it.

I got a stencil kit a while ago to paint my 36 Schwinn and remembered it included a Cadillac water transfer decal............I just need a Cadillac hood ornament now!

I’ll post more pix and details in a gallery or build forum.
