The only numbers I have found…. Don’t start with a letter…. And are not in a straight line….63567

The snyder built models usually have a format that is two numbers and two letters next to the serial number. The two numbers being the year backwards. eg. 04EH. I would guess it's around 1940.

Few more pics…. It’s in a hard spot to take good pics in my garage

How about a pic of the BB where the number is?

With the curved down tube, it should be right around 1940.

2 digits and SN on top of the 63567. I can't make out the 2 digits. 1940 or later. That's the year in reverse. It should show up with more paint removal. Maybe the first digit is a 6, making it a 1946, in 1956 they used forward facing dropouts.

I see the SN but not really seeing any numbers before it…. Where your arrow is pointing…. Will be pulling it down to get a better look….

On those bikes, the numbers are two different stampings. On top the 2 numbers plus SN (or EH) are in line on one stamp. The lower numbers, the sequence, is stamped with separate stamps.

They will probably show through with some sanding or wire brush.

Not seeing numbers before SN

They used the same date stamp for the whole year, so the numbers were in line and had the same spacing every time. Going by my 42, this shows right where the numbers would be. It looks like yours was lightly stamped as they hurried to make a ton of bikes every day.

Any batteries in the tank? They used to put a year code on those D cell batteries.

Thank you I will see if I can pull up the numbers some how…. I was wondering what the spacing might be…. What does the EH represent on your bike?

I believe the current best theory is that it was built at the Excelsior-Hawthorne plant in Indiana. The other apparent plant code is SN, thought to be Snyder New York.
