Hadn't planned on building anything this winter, just polishing on my Hawthorne,Silver king bike. Until I came across this John Deere seat the other day while parts picking, the frame is some mystery frame my son picked a few years ago and never finished stripping, the bars and stem are pre 74 schwinn stingray. Everything else will be from my parts pile.
The seat that started it all.

The middle bars are what I will be using.

Sweet seat and glad to see you join in!

I like your choices! Those motorcycle bars are interesting. They usually look a little too big on small bicycles, but these fit really well. Do you know which cycle they came from?

If I remember right from when I got them from my dad, he said they was made for Triumph

EPIC! Happy Anniversary!!!
Thanks, The wife has a collection of gumball machines, everything from a keychain to a wizard and it all started from a carnival machine with stand she got from her dad before we got together that I accidentally broke and over the years we lost the machine and stand in moves. She wouldn't tell me anything she wanted for our anniversary so when I found this at a friends storage business I knew I had to get it and put my Halloween spin on it. She loved it

Drag'n, are those the bars from the girl's bike on your build, too? I really like the bend in those.

I couldn't get my seat post to budge on RaTsberry either. So, I cut off the tapered part at the top, that gets clamped by the seat clamp. You can measure yours, but mine turned out to be 13/16" which is common for some Schwinns of the era. I was able to tap a 13/16" post into the remaining post that was stuck in the frame.

It was a tight fit (used a good amount of grease to help ease it in) and so I knew I would never be able to make it 'taller' once I got it to my height for me to ride / look right on the bike. But , I could always tap it in further and lower the sissy if I sell it to someone shorter than 6'2".

Maybe you can see the seam in this photo.

Nope it's the motorcycle bars I started with in the first mockup pic, they look alot a like but the motorcycle bars don't have the raised area in the middle. Going try shimming the seat post and if that don't work heat and a vise.

Broke it down today and got it most of the way primed, and cleaned some of the chrome. Deciding on what green and yellow to use.
Here's hoping you got the seatpost out,
and that you use my favorite shade of green and yellow...
Blue or red.

Carl.
