So now that I've been in the game a few years, I have tried a little bit of many things... banana seats to BMX, lightweights to beach cruisers, MTB to drop bars. But the one bike I keep coming back to when I just want to enjoy a ride is my dead-stock '72 Collegiate. I don't know why, but even with the rattly fenders, squeaky seat and cantankerous shifter, for me this is just what going for a ride is supposed to be.

When all you want to do is get on a bike, what's the bike you tend to grab?

Huffy Santa Fe II: My wife refers to this one as "Ride-or-Die". I originally bought it a decade ago for $50 to build my first e-bike. It's been through lots of changes but has turned into a pseudo-clunker that just works. These days it's my favorite gopro accessory at the MTB trails, my favorite short-trip-ride-around-town-bike, and the bike most likely to get hauled with me when I travel.

And it's tougher than a (somewhat) vicious yellow dog:

For me it's a mood thing. My bikes tend to be purpose built and whatever I grab depends on what I feel like doing. Higher mileage equals bigger gears, narrower tires and narrower saddles. Kicking around town tends to be the opposite. They all are comfy for their intended uses.

Going to get a breakfast burrito in a few on this:

Ditto - I don't have a go-to - each one is a tool/build for a specific job and they are all quite different.
My best all-round / most versatile machine is a fully reworked vintage Kona hardtail. But it's actually the one I ride the least.

They roll really well and handle the speed and banks of the pump track surprisingly well. I can not remember where I ordered them, but had them around for a couple of years before they found a home on a set of hoops. I'd buy them again in a minute.

The black-n-blue and the cantis with hangers - one sweet Schwinn!

They still make them in Sri Lanka, but can't find a stateside distributor. I'm definitely interested

The flightliner has the most miles but I can never choose one. I tend to go with what I feel like at the time. I’m hoping my next build will serve as more of an all around build instead.

this one I love riding but it sucks if there’s any off-road
