A set of original Schwinn bearing cups came in the mail today. Nice bit of patina to match the rest of the chrome on the bike. My fork should be arriving soon. This is another cramped space apartment build. Due to not having my parts stash at hand, I have had to rely on a lot of internet transactions to build this bike. The frame only came with a seat clamp, so lots of hunting and buying one part at a time.

Getting a late season snow here in Lakewood Colorado. Absolutely loving it and the much needed moisture. The fires have been bad out here lately. Snow didn’t stop Amazon from delivering my springer fork. This bike deserves a non reproduction fork on down the line, preferably Schwinn. For now, this fork will be a fair substitute. I will break it down, scuff the black painted parts and respray with a satin black. Some 1 Shot fire red pinstripes to match the rest of the frame. This springer is slightly narrower than others I’ve purchased in the past. Though, the arms seem a bit more beefy than others. I’m excited to get a fair mock up soon.

A quick mock up of the aftermarket springer fork on the frame. I need a a bearing race and bearings before I can get it mounted permanently. I also just pulled the trigger on a Schwinn mag sprocket that I hope to be here soon. I couldn’t really find a sprocket that had a “toughness” to it other than the mag. Thanks for looking.

I really like the way the white parts are coming out an ivory shade. It reminds me of vintage guitar plastic components. It gives it a classy patina.
I feel the same way. Trying to piece items together with similar patina is tough. I may spray the stick shift plastic cover an almond or off white. I may have to work at that one. Maybe mix a custom paint from my Testors paint collection. I love the patina of old ivory tuning knobs. 🎸

Received in the mail just in time to get me off page ewe (2). Smells like something died over there. This mag sprocket came at a good price. It was advertised to be from a Schwinn 3 speed but may be from a Huffy. The chrome/rust patina is just right to fit the other chrome items. I thought this sprocket would make the bike look a bit “tougher”.

My 60’s Hiawatha will be donating its “white walls” to the Hellion build. Some new green Kendas will take their place. They have the right amount of patina to match the rest. Maybe a little staining finesse to get it real close. I have a Shimano 3 speed hub coming in the mail. So I’ll be looking for some chrome steel rims soon. Also another shifter coming. It the tall 333 version. Excellent deal but now 3 shifter options to consider.
