Stripped down and headed to my painter. Finally going to get a real paint job as opposed to a rattle can or bare metal finish. Spokes came in, got some time off for the holiday, might even get the odd hub laced in.

Wow! Your build is really getting amped up.
I see what you did there...
That frame looks great, I'd be tempted to clear it. Looking forward to some SHINY.
Real boy's Spaceliners are chrome, or red, but not black chrome.
So we'll see how close the final product is to the idea in my head.
I also got my pink rim painted flat black so there's a bit of progress.

Crank was toast, add rat trap pedals, tires, tubes, front wheel and a cobbled together chain and booyah gotcha a crusty cruiser! I've got a set of bars with a beautiful patina to replace these flakey chrome slit yer finger jobs at the other garage. I'll be retrieving them soon. Might dust it off good and try the boiled linseed oil to revive the black n salmon finish... Picked it today for 59 dollars at a little antique mall. Could swap out the Perry single speed for a kickback (I have a few) I'll have to test drive it first...

Oh I did get this 1950 SA model AB laced...

It's an odd little hub with two sizes of flanges and the same spoke length on each side. Somebody did some math to figure that out cuz the flange holes don't line up like a symmetrical hub does.

I love the way the word "Monark" peeks out through the crust on that tank.
Me too! It's a bit brighter on the other side. I see a little work to do here. should try to flatten out the warped book rack. It's heavy stock, you can tell someone sat on it often. The chain needs a pair of links added to center the wheel in the fender and there's too much chrome on the front wheel. I've got a lot of stuff around here though, I'm pretty sure I can put a nice wheel set together that matches the patina. Same with that black crank, it's gotta go. Still, I was just tinkering in the garage last night for an hour or so. Too hot to do much it was a hundred earlier yesterday and there was air conditioning calling my name ten yards away. But we got it for a steal and until my Spaceliner frame gets back from the painter DEAD SPACE is dead in the water, so I have time and no deadline for this one.

Well... DEAD SPACE is on the schedule for paint Wednesday maybe tomorrow? So I'm still wrenching on this Monark. Spinning names around in my head, I'm about settled on Iron Butterfly. Stole some parts off my March Shootout bike. So now it's got a two speed kicker and some beautifully patina'd bars on it. Needs some seatpost weathering and we be ready for the linseed oil. Never done it before so we'll see what happens...

DEAD SPACE wheels are done. The post delivered the rim strips today so I HAD to put the Hank on and I also swapped out the 700 because you gotta have matching tires, right?

Any surprise DEAD SPACE will be a "Dragster/Roadster"??? My feelings are, if it's not a classic ballooner why push that big o' front tire around? ( excluding BMX )

Great looking tire combo!
