My only regret...

I regret illegal lane splitting on my motorcycle and getting busted to the tune of $440 yesterday ... amongst other things :p
One of my personal goals is to get a speeding ticket on one of my bicycles.

on one of my ride routes, there’s a sign with a digital speed detector and display in it. I can get a ‘slow down’ message but nothing ever materializes.

I was in a parade last summer and talked to a traffic officer working the event about my ‘chances.’

-he said it’d never happen regardless of situation as if I’m on/in a motorless vehicle, he can’t give me a motor vehicle citation.

he chuckled and said ‘wear yourself out!’

Lane splitting is legal here in California, though I'm not sure if it is in every state.

-I think it was when I was in Florida about 10 years ago.

it’s just an old law on the books that was supposed to keep air flowing over the engine and keep it from overheating in traffic. Just keep the bike moving

Before water cooled bikes hit the market….

I used to split lanes at every opportunity when commuting on a motorcycle.

It can be a challenge if you ride a porky dresser.

As for regrets, I have lots of regrets. I’ve done so many things wrong in my life.

But I imagine that if I changed any one thing that life would be different than it is now, and it could just as easily be worse than better.

Nowadays I tend to only wish for small things and I am very careful what I wish for. Mostly I wish for the success of my children and that seems to be working out.

We pedaled like heck on an evening ride a few years ago to see how high we could get this thing.

The ones that look like they say "9" are actually "19," but because of the weirdness of LED phasing vs. video FPS they didn't catch the first digit.

We had a pretty mixed bag that evening...

That’s FLYING on those bikes: the bike I do mine on is a 26” urban MTB…. A lot easier to crank up.
